Two 5th place finishes and now silverware. The transformation goes on and on. It may be a bit premature but I put my neck on the line and will say it anyway.

Logically if Manu were to win the league as expected, and Chelsea does not win the CL, again as expected, we would then be the most successful London club this season, therefore making us London's current most successful club with regard to results.

Ignoring our two recent 5th place finishes and Arsenal and Chelsea's recent previous successes, we all started the season at the same starting line and it as it turns out, we are the only club to win one of the three competitions we were all involved in (I have ignored Europe as we played in different competitions).

Yes it may sound a bit desperate and seem like grasping at straws, but my intention is to create a "feel good factor" for my fellow supporters for the rest of and the new season ahead! Also feels good to say Tottenham 1 cup - Arsenal f*** all! COYS

It depends on whether you value silverware or league finish more. Obviously scum 1 and scum 2 fans will agrue that they'd rather finish 2nd/3rd than win the CC. But for a club in our position a bit of silverware is exactly what was needed. We wouldn't have been ready for the Champions League next year. After we've got some quality midfielders in and they've had a year to settle in, winning the Uefa Cup and finishing 4th in the league in the process, we'll be ready for Europes top competition.

Feels good indeed! Hows your trophy cabinet looking Gooners?

Nice post, success is judged by what you win, if we are the only London team to win a trophy this season then for sure we will be the most successful London team of the season!!!!

Back in 84 we used to sing:

All things wise and wonderful
All creatures great and small
Tottenham won the UEFA Cup
and Arsenal won fuck all

Replace UEFA with Carling and you got yourself a song.

over all i'm not one to give them lot stick cos we won a cup... we're not at thier level in general and i think we just set ourselves up for a mighty fall if we're not cool about it. We need to build on it next year and recent history is against us doing it so i'm reluctant to crow until we have.

i think we will ;)

great and all that, but its a bit thin really.

Personally i would not crow about it. Its things like that which make other clubs ridicule and laugh at us, and give us the "deluded" and "Small-time club" labels

Google 'Success'

an event that accomplishes its intended purpose

So yes, I think we might be able to say we are the most successful club in London at the end of the season.

Wait for it! Wait for it!

still too close to call on the chelsea front.

To quote Brian Clough:

"Say nothing, keep your mouth shut, win it then talk your bloody head off"

Patience! we will have all next season to sing about their ability to win fuck all.

By the way wasn't last nights game at Anfield delicious.

I don't believe winning the league cup is as important than finishing in the top 4.

The object of football is to win the competitions you enter, unless I've got it all wrong of course I don't think 2nd, 3rd or 4th are regarded as winning.

A trophyless season is never as good as a trophy winning season. Ask whinging 3 years without a trophy wenger.

Yea, but he always gets in the champions league as well.

Winning the league cup is a great day, but getting a champions league spot helps take you forward as a club, both in terms of money generated and attracting players.

I think the whole "it's all about the glory of winning a cup" is a bit outdated, unless you're talking Uefa cup or CL.

Tottenham are a club that needs to be getting in the CL to keep on the tails of the top 4, winning a cup can be a bit of a fluke. Just ask the likes of Boro in 04, or Pompey/West Brom this season. It doesn't make you a good club.
