Rene Adler or Hugo Lloris for me.
Adler though has yet to recover from his knee surgery and has yet to feature for Leverkusen this season.
As for Hugo Lloris, well, it certainly won't beasy to tempt him to the Lane, as should he become available (doubt very much Lyon will sell him!) the most probably Paris SG would cme flashing their money and out-bid Spurs anyway.
I am quite convinced that Gomes would do very well in Ligue 1 (because of the style of footy they play there) so maybe Spurs could offer Gomes+cash in a swap.

Handanovic. Would they want GDS as part compensation?

Here we go again. In spring 2008 we went through every half-decent keeper in Europe (at least it seemed that way). Jesus wept, we've got most of this season and possibly all of next to decide on a successor to Friedel.

Not disputing that at all (re: Friedal) but where's the harm in speculating over possible successors?? Nobody's having a pop at Friedal and these kind of discussions are interesting to many of us so chill out!

Vorm has been outstanding for Swansea this year and would easily be in our price range.

I'd like to say we should sign Krul or Akinfeev as i've been following their careers since they were 17 years old but I don't think either have yet fulfilled their early potential.

If we are willing to splash the cash i'd probably go for Lloris as the safest long term option.

I'd go for Al Habsi. Surprised to see him mentioned only twice in this thread so far. He's done very well over the last couple of seasons and at 29 could arguably have 10 years ahead of him at the highest level. His shot stopping against Wolves was top notch today, though I admit i've not seen enough of him to comment on the rest of his game. Positioning looks good, don't know what he's like at crosses though?

There's precious little discusiion that I can see.

Is this thread going to continue until May 2013?

Hmmmmmm, he's a good shot-stopper but is terrible in the air and can't kick.

You can't pick a keeper from MOTD highlights.

I remember when Akinfeev came onto the scene and all the bigs clubs were looking at him....but since then he's never lived up to his early promises. I read he's not that good on crosses (hardly even seen him play so can't comment myself) and let him too many balls through his legs. He's said to adjust his style so he's stopped letting in easy balls that way....but what is your general impression of him since you must have seen him play a bit?

Scott Loach and Joe Lewis.

I'd love Adler, if only for his stats on Football Manager.

Scott Loach has been abysmal for Watford this season according to the Watford fans I know. Hasn't improved and is making more mistakes than Gomes apparently.
