I think this is probably right, but at the same time Levy and co need to allow that personality to do things his own way.

I get the feeling that AVB wanted to change things from top to bottom, but that with the various different people within the club (Levy, Baldini, Sherwood etc.) he wasn't able to do that. That might have been because of AVB's failings, but I don't think he was helped.

If we want the latest acronym to do well then he HAS to be given the time and the room to tear it up and start again. If there are various other guys with Levy's ear sticking their oar in then the whole thing will just be an exact repeat of what we've seen recently.

LVG has the personality, I don't think there's any doubt about that, and he's got the pedigree. But if we tie his hands behind his back then he'll be relying on his penis alone...and I think we need a manager with more than just a penis.

What was I talking about?
Bingo bango bongo.

DL really needs to take a step back and trust his judgement. If he feels his own judgement can't be trusted then we're bang in trouble and always will be, despite DL's other obvious attributes and successes.

I wasn't digging you out at all. I used to live up that way and a knew a bloke who drank with him. Every time I saw the bloke he'd tell me some tale or other about what was going to happen at LFC or EFC. I don't recall a single thing ever actually happening.
Fair do's, probably right.

The quicker this guy is confirmed as our boss, the better. That'd be enough for me to put up with watching the rest of this carcrash of a season

Was just gonna post this. Don't agree with what Stobart said in that podcast - he was spot on with everything else though - we need to sign him up and announce immediately.

Tim won't go on a suicide slide as he will want to leave as good an impression as possible to take another job - though he should stay and learn under LVG if he knows what's good for him; he has said, though, that he's open to some sort of tech. direct. role if booted from the hot seat - and the players will get a huge boost and start playing for their places. Those that don't perform obviously don't want to be here and can fuck off.

I don't see any downside to announcing LVG asap.

Let's go, shinehead!

*oh, and I'm pretty sure Stobart is on here from some of the things he's said.

Sadly it won't be confirmed any time soon.

Tim is on an 18 month contract so we can't say that we're appointing someone else without effectively sacking him (which would likely cause issues contractually).

The only way we'll see anything confirmed before the World Cup is if Sherwood is sacked (unlikely) or if Sherwood agrees to a behind the scenes roll under LVG now (also not very likely).

Unfortunately I think we have to accept that this season will just have to run its course without there being an obvious chink of light at the end of the tunnel.

I think its a 6 month contract with 12 months more if targets met which were never going to happen. This is why I think players arent fighting for each other as they knew he wouldn't be here. TS knew his days were numbered the day he lost to man city am afraid. He is gone and there will be a small fee for us to not proceed to next season. Thats my thinking as i think DL knew deep down he messed up and won't have left himself so open for more money to buy out contracts.

Was Sherwood given an 18 month contract or was it just a continuation of his previous job with the only difference being the promotion?

I suspect nobody knows the full details, but it was reported as being a new 18 month contract.

Either way we can't hire someone else for Tim's position until Tim has gone, or has agreed something different.

Knowing us, it'll probably be Daniel Levy's masterplan to announce LvG as co-manager with Sherwood ala Houllier and Evans!

What could possibly go wrong?!

We need a massive personality to come into this club and exorcise our demons. We're utter softcocks. If LVG is the man who can come in and raise the bar and show there are real consequences for not meeting those standards then so be it. We need a bit of fear around the place.

Everyone is a trier but ultimately it all feels too comfortable. There's no edge.

I'm tired of seeing us rolling over and having our tummies tickled.

LVG would get slaughtered by the Dutch press if it was announced pre World Cup.
Accusations of taking his eye off the ball and not giving the National team job his full and complete attention.
So I doubt it will be announced anytime soon.

Fucking wish it would be though!

Possibly. He's told everyone he's off though so wouldn't come a s a surprise. Not sure he'd give a shit anyway.

You're probably right. This is LVG & Tottenham Hotspur we're talking about, so anything's bloody possible.

You're looking at it the wrong way...they would be playing for their place at the club under LVG.

They would know he'd be watching the rest of the season with a beady eye.

Other than about 3 or 4 obvious candidates one might as well roll a dice when picking managers.

I wonder how mareen would cope with our "softcocks" and our bugetary constrants?
