I read and hear a lot of praises for this guy, he is world class, he is gifted, he is this he is that. But I fail to see it on the pitch, surely I can see why Bale, Gomes, Dawson, Pav, Bassong, King, Pallacious, Ekoto, Corluca, etc. every spurs player is considered top class and some of the even world class, but when it comes to Modric I can't do it. WTF?!?

And here is why

His long range passing, the one he is supposed to have as a CM - SUCKS. In those few sorry attempts of his he is either short or way off.
He can't tackle.
He can't supply our strikers and wingers with clever thru balls.
He can't play fast fotty and he always seems to need good 5 seconds to make a decision?
He often can't stay on his feet while making that decision and not allow the opposition players to brush him aside or even toss him around like a rag doll.
He seems to have the habit of carrying the ball to a teammate instead of just passing it.
He can't read the game very well, especially defensively.
He can't do anything more than the occasional nutmeg.
His first touch on easy balls often sucks.
His shooting at the goal sucks.
Yesterday and especially against Arsenal for the most part I thought we have 10 players on the field and one bystander.
....
I can go on and on and on.

And the worst of all his head is getting fucking big. Yesterday during the little brawl we had in the middle of the game Gomes came in and tried to play the role of a peace-keeper by trying to separate our hotheads away from the Chelsea players and Modric got mad at him.

seriously though if you can't see why Modric is world class and why people like Redknapp say he could walk into any team in the world then maybe football aint the sport for you

Hmmm...wasnt this fella on the Harry out wagon as well? You're allowed to have your opinion, and Luka hasn't had the best of seasons, but your post is just a number of statements - some of which have some merit, others that are completely and utterly off. And the "clown" headline pretty much sums the quality of the post up.

If we are to discuss Luka's game, though, I'd say that as a CM he does lack the range of balls and sometimes the quick mind to let to ball go to the right guy quickly. He also needs to work on his shooting.

He's short range passing and his ability to hold on the ball and simply just slide past players is world class, his first touch is excellent and he can play the most wonderful through ball. He's also shown in the past few games that he can do the defensive job against top, top opposition as well.

I just re-read your post. Cannot believe I bothered to reply. This is getting silly. Bale over-rated anyone?

Erm, a few questions for you.

1) Do you have 20/20 vision or use corrective aids?
2) Have you been watching the same games as us and not playing FiFa or Pro Evo?

Against Chelsea yesterday Modric was outstanding. His ball retention was pivotal in us frustrating Chelsea, he played in Bale on numerous occassions and the way he makes space for himself and others is amazing, he just drops his shoulder and he's away!

I agree he needs to improve on his shooting and he does need to create more chances for the forwards but with Bale flying we are creating more than enough chances to bury teams!
