Can we just dispel this nonsense about us making 'PR bids' for players?

We talk to loads of players all the time, some of it is leaked by agents/other clubs, but it is laughable to say we just pull these types of stunts to appease the fanbase. If anything, it is counterproductive and makes the club look like it can't get deals done.

Dybala - the deal was in place, Poch said no.
Lautaro - CFC scuppered our chances via Lukaku.

Not everything is a conspiracy.

Levy has a lot to answer for but this narrative is tedious.
It's ridiculous to think that with large sums of money involved a club would work on the finances and then put a bid in just for 'PR'. The club gain absolutely nothing from it.

The selling club get pissed off and you get a reputation for wasting everyone's time. Then you piss off the coach, who will certainly be aware of it and wondering what the hell is going on. Lastly, you just piss off a fan base.

the club would gain zero.

He's not repped by Mendes and these level of reporters wouldn't be following up on that info if it was just a Mendes push to Wolves.
Does not need to be a Mendes client to get the papers writing up stupid rumours. We may well have bid and have a bit of interest. Main intention can still be to force Wolves to move.
Just a thought.

I'm not sure I believe that Porto are totally unwilling to negotiate. They need an injection of funds to meet FFP requirements, pricing the player out of a move wouldn't necessarily be in their interest. I'm sure it will take much more than the offer of €45m + €10m bonuses that got knocked back, but I imagine there's some room to negotiate.

Portugese clubs are always down to negotiate.

A Bola are the least reliable paper in the world for football news. Nobody comes close to the absolute shit they spout. This is not where you'll hear anything reliable from
I am sure when they write a deal is close we find lots of people on here claiming A Bola is the number one source in Portugal.

Also, I don't see anybody paying that for him anyway.

No way Porto can turn down that amount of money. Spanish clubs are skint, Juventus signing Vlahovic, City in for Alvarez, not sure who else is there?

Bayern don't spend that type of money.

Maybe if we just offer a little bit more, it's a goer.

We have a lot of idiots on here that's why.

Literally the only journos who can be trusted so far have all reported a bid has been made. That's it. Everything else is bs.

Of course, because nobody here has any clue which Portuguese media is reliable and which one is not. All I know (and probably other users as well) is that they like to write a lot of shit in southern Europe.
