I think it's that there's a very limited number of affordable decent strikers available (we already missed out on Giroud) and he's at the stage in the career where he'd be ok being a backup for the first choice striker for a bit. More of a Pav/Defoe replacement to fill out the ranks rather than an Adebayor replacement, I'd expect.

Yeah, not a guy you buy instead of a 15-20 million striker but one you buy in addition to him.

Plus he'd cost half of Leandro.

De Jong is at least equal if not better to Leandro, and he's not overhyped and overpriced.

But we need to get active in the transfer market and quickly.

Not sure Leandro is worth twice as much (considering this is a young back-up #9 we are talking about).

Huntelaar would more be an alternative to Ade, but I just don't think he's good enough/would be suited to this league.
