They won't though as they're corrupt and powerless.
the problem is Barca dissapearing is literally la ligas worst nightmare. Barca/Real madrid are the only reason why La Liga has any sort of TV revenue. If one of them were to fold the whole league might be in jeopardy as there goes pretty much the only reason why anyone outside the country would watch the matches.

And yet the only way they will get a competitive league is if they distribute the TV money more fairly and impose stricter financial rules on the clubs. The last 20 years the whole system has been built around Barca and Real Madrid.

And another chunk of the club sold. Seriously, governing bodies should hang their heads. They allowed these uber-clubs to take the piss for years, turning a blind eye or worse. Are they going to use this money to pay De Jong, Braithwaite etc what they are contractually owed, or add to their collection of players? Yeah, the second thing.

Barcelona will activate their fourth economic lever and sell nearly a quarter of Barca Studios as they aim to register their summer signings.

It is understood they have agreed to sell a 24.5 per cent stake in the company to GDA Luma for €100million (£84m, $102m).

Barcelona already sold another 24.5 per cent of Barca Studios to Socios.com as their third lever last week. Laporta said last week they would not need to sell a further stake in the company, but they have not been able to resolve a disagreement with La Liga about the structure of the TV rights sale to Sixth Street.

La Liga are expected to update them in the next two days as to whether this fourth lever helps them drop below the salary limit, but there is an expectation at Barcelona that they might still be between €30m and €40m short of the required figure.

Messi had agreed to a bigger pay cut than 50% the summer he left but that violated La Liga regulations for some reason. A 50% reduction is the most that was allowed.

But now he's been out of the league for a year that surely changes and he can be paid whatever he and Barca agree, so he would likely not demand big wages if he wanted to come back.
Now I thought part of this whole percentage thing was basically to prevent clubs basically getting a whole host of top players for next to nothing then appearing to pay below the wage threshold.
Basically circumventing the whole idea of FFP (or Spains equivalent) a bit like players being on 100k a week but they or their agent receives 70+ million in signing fees which gets neatly parcelled up in an accountant friendly way.

The Messi thing is ludicrous, they still owe him a large fortune which even if he waived I don't believe the Spanish FA or the rest of La Liga will just let slide, I don't think he can waive it, much like most of the other Barca players owed a lot in deferred wages/bonus'/add-ons.

As I understood it Messi never even wanted to leave last time he just did so as such was the ridiculousness of his new contract even agreeing to take the maximum pay cut permissible it was still way over the number they needed to hit.

Actually now I've thought about it I can see them giving Messi a player/coach role or upstairs role and a huge ownership stake in lieu of the money owed to him or something mental like that.

It is worth noting that La Liga rules are the reason they are struggling not FFP.

Conversely they were allowed to get to the point that they did by still complying with all FFP and La Liga wages caps and budgets.

which still beggars belief that despite it being a complete car crash, everyone was ok with it

Hahahaha ESPNFC reporting now that Christensen and Kessie may leave on free if they are not registered by the weekend. What a joke club Barca is becoming now. Eggs on those players face will be priceless.

Will be so funny for chelscum to lose Christensen to Barca and another too. ?

Betis have a similar problem:

Huge difference in the debt, but also in the ability to sell assets and raise capital.

That didn’t stop Rangers having to start all over again. If a club goes bust there isn’t much a league can do about it.

Apparently Christensen has now removed all mention and images of Barca from his social media profiles and restored his old Chelsea image.

In fairness to him, he’s right to be a bit miffed.

I wonder if Chelsea will take him back or he’ll be looking for a new club altogether.
Maybe at same time he should have done his research before joining Barcelona.

Their money concerns are quite high profile so if players still stupid enough to sign for them, that’s their problem.

i sincerely hope they go bust, growing up Barcelona had a moral high ground and that has all been undone emphatically in the last couple of years.

Putrid club.
