That sounds good to me

The issue is our rotation options, not our 1st choice players. Son, Dele and Eriksen are very good but we can't rely on them for every match. At the moment our other picks for the attacking positions behind the striker are Lamela (can do a job but was out injured for a long time), N'koudou (out on loan) and Sissoko (about as creative as a bucket of sick). Surely you can see we need some more depth?

Indeed but none of those players will be leaving for free. They haven't contributed much in terms of on the pitch return but it won't be a lot in terms of money wasted(barring wages of course).

In terms of opportunity wasted, however, the signings of Llorente, Janssen, Nkoudou, Njie et al have proved to be very costly.

Just imagine what Poch could have achieved over the past couple of years without being hamstrung by Levy’s bargain basement failures.

Exactly this. Our transfer policy is to sign (usually cheap) potential and probably 1 in 5 of these signings ever work out.

For every Alli there's a Nkoudou, N'jie, Janssen.

If for once we went out and brought some proven quality, I wonder what we could have achieved....

Just because a player has proven quality elsewhere it doesn't automatically it will work out either. There are plenty like Mikhitaryan at Yanited for example. What we have to realise is that if we buy a £50mil+ player that struggles, then we don't have the spare funds to just go out and buy again to rectify the situation like the real Elite clubs and financially doped clubs do. Just look at how much Sanchez is costing Yanited because HM doesn't fit.

I missed Herc's posts. I wish he could pop by and increase the positivity levels here.
You spelt expectation wrong.

I appreciate ITK news, and this isn't a bash at them at all, but with ITK more often than not comes disappointment. People need to learn to prepare themselves better for that.

My biggest worry is that we seem to be failing to attract top players to actually join us. Yet we have a great first team, have improved a lot of the last few years, have top failities and a state of the art stadium. On top of hat we are one of the richest clubs in the world. With all that we seem to be a long way down the list of players and that must be sending a message to the top youngish players we have that maybe they need to go elsewhere as e will not be able to add the extra we need to start winning things. Now there seem to be more clubs than ever in front of us as attractive to join and they appear from the outside to all be more decisive than us .... but maybe they are simply more attractive as much as that hurts us to say

I think we are attractive, but lack the financial clout to back it up.

I guess it depends on how the goalposts were moved, saying he is no longer for sale isn't moving the goalposts so is it the money? I doubt that would be moving the goalposts that would be upping the price so surely it points to the timing, ie they want to keep him until the summer, no? If so, and its tenuous I know, is the loan back possible, or was that what we nearly had but they have said come back then.
To be honest from what I saw of Bordeaux the other night, for £40mil they could get five or six players better than any of their other players.
It's a shame but I'll not lose sleep over him I'll just say Gus Poyet you are dead to me!

Does JJs info mean deals off or just that they're fucking us about?

All it means is somethings significantly changed regarding the deal. Speculating as to what that change is, is pretty pointless because it could be one of a wide number of things. People are going to automatically assume it's all about the fee/wages, but these things are so complicated it could be one of many other reasons as well.
