I was the worst person to be around when my team lost games, even if it was by a single goal. And that was just in a shitty Saturday park league. Mind you, when we lost it tended to be thanks to a mistake by me! I didn't want to have anything to do with my team-mates after a game if we had lost. I wouldn't go to the pub afterwards, I wouldn't go out with them in the evening... I'd lock myself away, sulk about it, get it out of my system and by Monday I was ready to go again.

I know it's their job, but I fail to understand how any player can come off a pitch smiling when they've been beaten so soundly.

Mate I had a coach work for me and if we lost he went straight home and got in to bed.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Hard to disagree.

Just as a question but why ?

It is not the shouting pumped way that brings result it is the determination and that can be demonstrated either in a noisy way or a quiet steely way Neither is wrong. Every player will have their own way of preparing Being vocal is usually a sign of re;lease of nervous energy

I remember and England manager saying he did not want the players to sing the national anthem and become emotionally involved he wanted them to concentrate and focus individually on the game

Vocal positivity and positive energy is massive in sport. Football is a team game and one that is affected massively by confidence. Joe Hart sounded confident and ready and I'm sure he gee'd up the city boys. Are lot looked like they were about to dive out of the boats and onto omaha beach.

We are painfully lacking a Scott Parker style influence and player that is willing to grab the game by the balls.

I don't know that you need the yelling and shouting for the energy to be positive though.

Confidence is among the most important things any athlete in any sport can carry into a competition, but not all athletes react the way you see Hart react. Some react with a nervous energy that will make it as if they can't stop talking. Some will be as talkative as a light fixture. Some will completely and utterly bored until they get on the pitch. Some will joke around and laugh and yes some will yell. It all comes down to the individual athlete.

I think that the view of the tunnel shows a variety of different personalities. Kompany seemed to be driving home Pelligrini's plan ("Don't give them time lads"), Hart was loud, Lamard looked unengaged, Milner looked.....well like Milner. As you would expect, a group of different reactions from different athletes however you can't say that any of them looked anything other than confident even if they weren't shouting about it.

Makes a massive difference, at the top level every single player is good enough to make the difference that wins a game. The difference is who can hold it together when it matters and who can be confident enough to try something special. It's one of the reasons why you see young players explode onto the scene as they have no built in fear of failure so they try things.

We used to get in the oppos faces early on and you could tell that you'd have an easy night if they backed down. The thinking was always "get them thinking about you and they won't be focused on their own game" It's amazing how often it works.

My response has been well covered by DE in his post
The shouting and geeing up is for the benefit of the person giving it not about those who are listening to it.
And so as you you know the question is not from some one who does not know

Ahh the Wimbeldon technique
was not as succesful against superior sides. it can work as a shock tactic but it becomes the norm and has impact

Do you think players like Messi and Ronaldo etc will shout and scream like little bitches in the tunnel to try and win a game, or are they so confident they KNOW they are going to rip you a new one ?

I think it is worth remembering this is Man City's tunnel filmed by employees of Man City.
The images and most likely sound are heavily edited I'm sure to paint City in the best possible light.

Therefore I wouldn't red too much into it. I do find it interesting and I also agree psychology is a huge factor in football.
