Right now I'm super glad we didn't get Slot or Nagelsmann... there's just something about Ange that's a perfect fit for us... his playing style, the way he speaks and acts in the media, his personality, how he's handling the squad and the fans... and he knows the british game.... could this be a bullseye appointment from the club ? 🤔🤔
Yea I’ll be honest Slot was my n.o1, Ange was my n.o2 but on reflection I think Ange suits us all round even better than Slot would’ve!

Naglesman wouldn’t have worked, Ange is such a good fit.

Happy bloody days again 😊

I love how Ange doesn’t set goals it’s quite unique but his process of just focusing on effort intensity dominating and trying to win every game and not limit the team with any goals because if they reached them they’d then slacken off it’s almost simple genius.

Have to say that most teams are going to hate playing us with perhaps the exception of Man City. 90 minutes of intense, intelligent football is exhausting unless you have the skill, speed and brains to deal with it. we're going to struggle protecting the far post but the chances will be fewer and far between than in the recent past.

I would say this - we should be better defensively when its a back line of Royal, Romero, VdV, Udogie. Taller, faster, stronger.

I can see why Ange still wants another CB - though I was more impressed with Sanchez tonight. But, another LCB would be nice. Interesting choice of Dier with the armband - I wonder if that is an indication of his spot in the pecking order.

This is exactly what makes Arsenal/City so dangerous, their systems are absolutely relentless and it looks like we’re on our way to putting the same pressure for the full 90 mins.

The youthfulness of both the current best 11, coupled with the youthful signings we’ve made makes me think we’ve reverted to what’s gotten us the most success in the past. Focusing our efforts on the next best set of players rather than established stars.

Giving Ange the final tools will give us the platform we need to build from this season. It’s going to be exciting but expect some road bumps along the way.

For those that enjoy A LOT of detailed analysis on how Ange might overcome the top teams:

Isn't this the shit talker that claimed Veliz was shit in the air and his strengths were long range passes, vision and dribbling? And also claimed Postecoglou invented inverted FBs?

If so, it won't be good analysis, it will be just content for likes and retweets.

Likes and retweets now = $ so you’ll get more and more of these, doubt he believes it himself.

Just read Ange’s post March comments on Football London and love his answer on how ready he thinks we are for Sunday and how happy he is with progress (asked on the back of him saying we’re probably 1 or 2 games short in our preseason prep because of the Leicester wash-out and Roma):

“It's irrelevant. We've got to be ready. It's not going to wait for us. Come Sunday we need to be ready and we will be”.

He’s not making any excuses. Not only is he not making any excuses but he’s rejecting the opportunity to use an easy excuse. Can you imagine the song and dance Jose or Conte would be making about our Leicester and Roma games not happening? Ange is doing the opposite and in doing so is hopefully setting a very different tone among the players.

Was underwhelmed initially but I’ve completely bought into him, it’s likely to be a bumpy season though but I love the intent, and that he calls everyone mate

Ange spoke yet?

Every word Ange Postecoglou said on Ndombele, Van de Ven, Alejo Veliz, Kane and more transfers

Here's every word the Tottenham head coach said after the 4-2 defeat to Barcelona in the club's final pre-season friendly before the Premier League begins

Alasdair GoAnge Postecoglou speaks with Xavi Hernandez before the Joan Gamper Trophy match between Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur at Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys
What were you thoughts on that game?

It was good. First half was excellent. They got the goal but our response to that was excellent. The whole first half we played some really good football, pressed them and you could see they were uncomfortable. I thought the lads were outstanding. We just ran out of legs in the second half. We had a lot of guys out there who this was their first 90 minutes at this intensity.

It was my decision not to make too many substitutions today and to leave guys at home because I feel with pre-season the way it has been we are a couple of games short. It cost us in the end but in terms of the effort the players gave maximum and that is all you can ask for.

What did you make of Oliver Skipp?

Mauricio Pochettino Discusses The Future Of Andrey Santos
He has been outstanding. Obviously he didn't have much of a break but since he's been in he's got bags of energy and he uses that really well. He maintains and intensity with and without the ball that makes him hard to contend with. He was outstanding tonight. He got a significant knock early but battled through it and that shows the character of him.

You made changes tonight with a second choice starting XI, Richarlison came in and missed some chances, any concerns there?

There is no first choice, second choice. We needed to get minutes into everyone. Richy has had a bit of a knock and has missed a few days' training. You could see he needed the run. He worked so hard for the team, he was unlucky with his chances but it is really important for us to get 70-75 minutes out of him today and he works so hard.

How does Richarlison playing change the team?

It doesn't really, not in terms of the way we set up. Every player brings their own characteristics to it and that is what we want in the squad. It is not about having like for like, I've never believed that is the way to set up a squad. You want players to provide something different. The basic framework of our game doesn't change and the central striker is still the focal point. He got into good areas and we got the ball into him. Every game we've played the striker has had a decent amount of chances and that is what we need to continue to do.

No Tanguy Ndombele or Joe Rodon tonight, can we read into that that they're not in your plans?

No, it's just the decisions I've got to make. They're a little bit physically behind the rest as well you know. The way we play there's a bit that I need to be strong on and that is that you've got to be at a certain physical level to play this kind of football.

If you're not it does no justice to the player themselves, but there's no doubt that we've got a big squad at the moment and there will be outgoing and those decisions are going to be made by the club and the players themselves. Tonight was about getting minutes into the lads that I felt we needed to be ready come Sunday.

You've got Van de Ven and Veliz in today, what are they going to bring to your squad?

We're really pleased to get them into the squad. Micky van de Ven we've been on to for a while. Just great profile for a centre-back particular for the way we want to play. Physically he's quite commanding and he's got a real presence about him. He's a left-sided centre-back which helps in the structure of the team.

Really ambitious young man. He's only had a year in the Bundesliga. He was at Volendam before that. It's not like he was at a big club before that. He's making strides and hopefully this jump is another one with which we see him really develop.

For us, he's one not just for this year but for the long term that we felt can become a really important part of our team and will be a really excellent defender for us.

With young Veliz, he's one we identified and he's got a lot of talent for a youngster. He's got a great profile. He's a big guy but he's very mobile and he works hard. He's already made an impact in the Argentine first division and again good to have him in.

You said last week you want one or two centre-backs in, so still another one to come in in that position?

Yeah potentially. Again we've got to make sure that we keep the squad manageable and see what happens with outgoings, but yea the potential is there to bring in one more.

Would you like outgoings to be known by the start of the season?

No idea. With the window closing at the end of the month there's still time for these things to happen. From my perspective I'm not too focused on that. That's for the club and the players involved. I give my advice and opinion on it but they're going to be the ones that are driving it.

You said about leaving players like Harry Kane behind, was that just because he needed a rest with Sunday in mind and there's nothing else to be read into it?

No but I'm sure you will. It wasn't about giving the guys a rest. It was that I wasn't going to give them game time so there's no point in them travelling here. They'll train tomorrow and they'll train hard tomorrow. It was just that I wanted to use these two games. Our pre-season wasn't ideal. We had one game cancelled and another game we were supposed to play Roma, so we feel we're a game or two short and we've been using these two games to get as many minutes into the guys as possible and the guys that stayed at home will work hard tomorrow and we got minutes into the guys here today.

How ready do you feel for Sunday and how happy do you feel about where you are in your progress?

It's irrelevant. We've got to be ready. It's not going to wait for us. Come Sunday we need to be ready and we will be.

Yeah I think Slot would've done well here but Ange as a character is simply perfect for us right now off the back of Jose and Conte.

I said it before we brought him in and got laughed at by a few people, but I really felt he was the one candidate that had the capacity to really unite the entire club and so far he appears to be doing that.

Obviously we need to get some results in the league to back up all the good vibes, but I think this is a manager I want us to stick with long term even if we have some rocky patches.

Just feels right having him as our manager.

Yep, I would've been happy with Slot or JN but said back in March that there was just something about Ange that felt right, he seemed to fit and was definitely the wildcard choice.

So far I'm happy that he's turning out to be even better than I'd hoped back then.

People disagreed with it because he's an Aussie and "has never done it in a decent league", without actually looking at what he's done everywhere he's been and more importantly, how he's gone about doing it.

Sure, he was going to be a gamble but it's just felt like a good gamble and that's looking to be the case.

Convinced this is the same exact person that runs the NoNonceThing account that tweets about Arteta and Arsenal. It's scarily similar, completely over the top, and has no basis in reality. Blocked them on twitter because it's so absurd.

I had never seen this Twitter/X account before yesterday but he certainly put a lot of effort into creating a mammoth thread! He does seem to enjoy stirring ppl though so maybe he's just looking for engagement on his account to try to get some of those Elon X payouts!
