I wouldn't say I was proud of it, I thought it was suicidal and was only ever going to end with a loss. I do however believe I understand why he did it, and I think he ultimately sacrificed the game in order to push his underlying message of 'we must be brave regardless of circumstance.

We are very unlikely to face such an uphill battle ever again of circumstances stacking against us. 2 sending's off, 2 key players injured, 2 goals marginally ruled(correctly) to be offside and we still stuck to our principles and pushed forward. It was akin to watching the front line troops in WW1 climbing out of their trenches running into no mans land. There was only ever going to be one outcome imo, and I believe Ange knew that as well. I honestly think he's sacrificed the 3 points for a valuable, even crucial learning opportunity.

He did that in Australia. The CB tried to play the ball out and they conceded. He did it again and the same thing happened, but Ange was delighted as it meant they had taken his instructions on board.

Mason hasn't got the personality for it, simple as that.

To be honest, that would be my worry about Mason. He's a nice guy but he doesn't really have the charisma or force of character that Ange does but to be honest, very few people do.

He should go and get some managerial experience now though. He has experience now as a coach and working under different manager styles. We don't know if he is any better than Scott Parker. He should bite the bullet and move away from Tottenham and get a job in the football leagues or abroad at a place he thinks will give him time to bring out his philosophy.

I'd like him to have another year or two under Ange before he goes to cut his teeth.
He's still young enough that learning a little bit longer, from someone like Ange, will benefit him.

I see where you’re coming from with that, he’s no Ange personality wise but then again he’s no less interesting than Gary O’Neil who is turning out to be a fine PL Manager (yes I get that Bournemouth and Wolves are different level to Spurs) but also Eddie Howe is hardly that different personality wise to Ryan Mason and he’s also doing a great job.

I wouldn’t rule mason out long term just yet although I do also think he’s perhaps better suited to being a coach than a manager but let’s see.

We made some clear cut chances to equalise off the back of it. It would have been interesting to see what he did had we equalised with one of those chances.

If a couple of players had have kept their heads we'd have walloped that lot on Monday.

If the Son goal stood we would have been a lot calmer at 2-0 imo. Fine margins.

I wanted to say I wasn't looking forward to the next game because of the headaches we've got with player availability, but actually, knowing that we'll still play the same way makes it easier to swallow. I know the back line will not be amazing but the opposition still has to get past Vic.
Ange did say that we're at the start of this process and there would be ups and downs. Didn't think the only downs so far would all happen in one game but I've got faith. I'm just enjoying attacking football again. I know we'll be competing all season and maybe getting this season under his belt will help the team push on next season.
We also don't have the ticking clock of someone like Kane looking to leave if we don't win something. That was hanging over us for a while and I feel the group are all committed so if anything, there will be players really wanting to link up with a manager like ours.

So weird that I'm upbeat after a 4-1 loss. Must be the Ange effect.

Bielsa just played the same way from the championship to the prem lge. Man to man all over the pitch. Eventually other managers worked him out and they started getting battered 4 5 and 6 nil. Never changed, continued to get stuffed most games and was sacked.
Vincent Kompany might just end up the same way if things don’t change pretty damn quick.
I know the 2 sent off situation will probably never happen again but Anges tactics will really be tested in next few games. He has always said he isn’t one to hold back young players, only know if they are up to it by putting them in. If true to his beliefs I think he puts Philips in on Saturday. Really difficult to play a high line with Dier plus Davies/Hojbjerg in centre of defence .

We played differently v Palace. A lot slower and methodical.

Watching it and it's really interesting

Yep. Have to admit as much as I love Spurs, I'd have never bothered to have watched something like this in the past but with how Ange is and how he has us playing I'm watching it eagerly. Couldn't even bring myself to watch a bloody YouTube training video for most of last season as a result of how disconnected I felt with everything.

I could listen to Ange talk tactics and football all day. That didn't feel like as long as it was.
