'Tottenham are outstanding. If you let them play they are the best team in the League.'

Praise indeed by Pep

Shows how far we have come under Poch. You can never count us out.

Eriksen, Alli, Kane, Walker, Wimmer, and especially Lloris were very poor. Kane and Alli at least had moments of brilliance.

Poch has got some worries though at CB. If Toby is also out, does he persist with an under performing Wimmer or bring in CCV?

Wimmer was below par today, but he most definitely has not been underperforming.

What a game. Proper smash and grab from us but we rarely get away with results like that so not complaining!

Well I think if you get a goal from an handball even though '....wasn't in an unnatural position', this is different from a defenders block with his arm in a '...natural position' so should have different considerations. I don't make the rules however...

agree. if Mariner had seen it the goal probably would have been disallowed. I dont blame him for missing it, but City got lucky there.

Come on now everyone this is Man City at home, who arguably have the best attacking players in the league. Yes we were pretty terrible, but that was the best i have seen City play and we really struggled with their pressing, like we always do and their movement was terrific.

The great things is, considering that is the best they have played, we literally scored both their goals for them and creating our two goals from good football. To not be destroyed by them at 2-0 down with Toby going off, Wanyama at the back etc etc is an absolute testament to how far we've come as a team.

Some notes from me.

When Hugo is bad, he goes into self destruct mode. His kicking was woeful, both goals were shockers from him. It was horrendous.

Eriksen has been on form, but this shows what lots get frustrated with, completely shit today. Some of his through balls are so heavy its awful for someone of his quality and these are easy through balls. He fucked two good chances today playing them straight through to Bravo when there was so much space in behind.

Wanyama and Rose were excellent for me, and Dembele was decent.

Dier was awful and looked so slow and reactive today, what makes it worse is when Wanyama went back to CB he looked by far the more comfortable out of the two.

Considering all of this and away to probably the best attacking team in the league. What a result.

Great result but shocking performance :) too many not at the races but a massive point but what could have been.

Just hope Toby is not injured... really worried about that - we cant come out of Jan window with a CB pairing of Dier and Wimmer, please no as all our hard work will be undone over the next 2 months

it was an enjoyable match.. while it was nail-biting, I am delighted at how we matured this season.. at the point when that overzealous kid gabriel jesus scored the off-side goal, I was actually relaxed.. wouldn't mind losing then TBH, as we definitely made ourselves so difficult to an opponent like man city that I was very proud to be a Spurs..

And how many times do we get pressed in that way?!!! City did well and came out to nullify us in that way - smart - but rare.

not often, but both Monaco x 2 and BL did it in the CL, and it happened v Wet Spam away, and 2nd half v So'ton at home last season

I'm a big Wimmer supporter (I've gone and named my dog after him and sincerely hope he makes it with us as I'd rather not have a dog named after a non-Spurs footballer for the next decade) but his performances haven't been up to the level of last season. I hope Poch persists with him as once gets a run in the team and shakes the rust off a bit I'm confident he'll come good.

I had to miss the 2nd half, but I think both managers get high marks for the match. Pep clearly had city ready to play, and a smart move to put all the pace and attacking players on at the start. But, Poch earned his keep also - first by recognizing the problem (after two yellows, but still) in the first half, and then making the necessary sub at halftime to get the right players for the 4231.

Have we got a thread to talk about these abject refereeing performances.

Because what I've just witnessed IMO was a amateur performance.

I saw at least 4 foul throws.

Thank fuck. Losing Jan we can cope with, losing both would be a major blow.
I believe it is FA Cup next week? Toby gets an extra week of R&R
Was a precaution that Toby got subbed? Asking cause I could not watch the game.

I think "first full game back for ages and not an easy one" might be kindest

could be worse. Your dog could be called Vlad

Second City Goal Wanyama wrestled
Numerous fouls and wrestles by City not given

I was a big supporter of him last season - But this? he looks not only rusty, but short of confidence and out of shape. Based on what I saw today and what I saw from Davies in the cup. Davies has to come in ahead of him as the replacement for Verts. Wimmer was like a rabbit in the headlights today. Davies has been there done that in a 3 for Wales - I think he'll be the better choice. Can you change the name of your dog?!?
