A concern I have about Rojo is his discipline. Last season he got 8 yellow cards and 2 red cards in the league (24 games) and a further 3 yelows & 1 red in 4 games in other comps.

He also got given 10 yellows and 2 reds in 24 games in the league the year before.

I agree with you there, but if anyone can impose some focus and discipline on the kid, it's Pochie.
;)
Especially with the added bonus of being countrymen, etc.

Fits the Argentinian defender stereotype well then...

He's looking pretty good at LB today, hope we are still interested, be good to have a CD who is happy and capable of playing LB.

Been really impressed with him during this WC. The fact he can play CB too should make him appealing.

Personally think they'll be bigger fish after him.

Really impressed with this guy in the Arg - Swi game so far. Looks great defensively and Argentina's biggest threat down the left as well.

Rojo has looked very good today but I will reserve judgement until I see him get tested by a good team later in tournament. I would hope any decent left back would play well against Iran, Bosnia, Nigeria and the Swiss.

A lazy comparison but he reminds me of Heinze. Looks solid, decent going forward and a touch of nastiness which we lack. Would love to have him and Davies as our left back options next season

Rojo was up against Xhaka yesterday, a player that would make any LB in the tournament look like a world beater. Would have been better to see him up against Shaqiri or Mehmedi (Shaqiri skinned him a couple times).

Didn't Medel come over to the EPL with a bad record? He seems to have settled down pretty well so maybe change is possible

You are wrong. Rojo was against Shaqiri who played RW. Xhaka played thru the middle and Mehmedi as a LW

Xhaka played on the right. It was a change first made in the second half of the Ecuador game, where Shaqiri initially started on the right (like in all the pre-tourney friendlies). Xhaka was hopeless this whole tournament for us, he just couldn't do a single thing right. Once Shaqiri moved there the team looked much more potent in attack.

Admittedly Shaqiri had a bit of a free role behind Drmic, which is why he was in the center/right/left throughout the game, why he came up against all of Zabaleta/Mascherano/Rojo. Xhaka was definitely assigned to the right though (and had another horrific performance).

From what I've seen he's not half as good a defender as Heinze was but is much more accomplished technically. Regardless, I'd be more than happy to see him at Spurs.

A bit off topic I know, but how well do you think Hitzfeld has done with the team and are you better off now than before he was managing you? Just interested because I saw he had retired.

It didn't look like that. Although to be fair the swiss hardly attacked, and I can't remember Xhaka in a single play
