It was never on. We don't sign players on the kind of money that Gotze commands and with that kind of premium reputation. We try and sign those players before they get to that point.

I really doubt Dortmund will be paying him more than what we could afford.

And this my friends is why most fans were playing it down. Shame it didn't fall our way but at least we can move on if it's sorted.

It was never going to happen

Let's try to get Coric or Boufal

Or promote Edwards and hope he's up for it

Dortmund's transfer strategy: Sell 'em and get 'em back a few years later for lesser fees. Working brilliantly for them - Sahin, Kagawa, Gotze. Ironically after losing so many good players from last year's team, they've got almost 2011's double-winning side back.

Can we start doing the same? Let's see, Mr. Bale and Mr. Modric, welcome back to WHL:rolleyes:

Is this a case of the tactical set-ups extending the actual real talent of the individual players?

I've noticed this with ex-Arsenal players and indeed our own in the Euro's,

seemed to be less effective outside of the tactical set-ups in which they had excelled.

Hopefully the case. Would love to see Gundogan and Mkitaryan struggle at Manc clubs.
