Would be a dream signing, can't see it happening due to the price and wages but would be a real statement of intent

Real story: Levy is all over players coming towards the end of their contracts elsewhere, and weve phoned his agent to get the ball park on fee and wages, and to pop the question. If we stump up, would he be willing to come? simply market research.

But his agent now publishes our interest to flush out more suitors. Like fkin Roman for example.

one other possibility is we are pissed off with Eriksen or Lamelas stance on next contract, so we create a story that heavy competition might be on its way to get them to the negotiating table.

Given hes hardly uprooted trees lately, of course we are big enough for him. shame our chairman isnt. While hes building that stadium though, i dont care much. If we are not chasing this level of player in five years then i might write a strongly worded letter of protest though.

Don't get drawn in. Only a matter of time before a club prepared to paying the going rate for quality blows us out of the water.

Only way this goes through is if Goetze follows Jansen's lead and rejects those clubs and holds out for Spurs. I don't think that's realistic though.

I think the fact that players know they'll play at Wembley this season and next and then in a brand spanking new stadium the year after could also add to appeal in situations like this.

Imagine if we were going to MK for the year away! Even our players would have been put off

Just to answer the concerns over costs considering janseen was such a struggle.....
We all know most clubs have an overall budget size for a transfer window/season. Perhaps the squabble in cost for vincent is due to needing enough left for a bigger target afterwards. I think he will cost 25m with 1 year left and thats just about in our striking range for an exceptional talent in our criteria range...theres no others we can possibly afford that fit the bill to improve our first 11 that we can get, so perhaps the club/levy/poch see this as a too good to refuse option given the circumstances. Almost a vdv type deal but on a larger scale.
With the expected outgoings it does make this doable.
Yedlin, fazio, carroll, and possibly chadli and bentaleb/mason makes this do able.
As for wages he would be our highest earner and on around 100k ish whilst being a key player at a club that is almost dortmund esq in its earlier years with a top class manager who is proven to progressively develop.

@voxy28 why so many WTF ratings on the one page?

I would assume he was on the booze or just extremely hopeful of getting Gotze.

From his post he thinks we can sell Mason and Chadli to pay his wages, and his WTFs were for those ruling him out on that basis.

Problem is there have been suggestions that there are wage increase clauses in 5 players contracts, and Kane's supposed new contract that makes him the clubs 3rd all time £100k+ player is reportedly less than what Gotze gets at dortmund. So it could cost us an extra £250k a week for all we know.

You can't just pay one guy a load more than others and expect everyone else to be cool with it, this is modern football.

Now there are many reasons why we would have a chance on him and he is certainly not too good on us, I just find it weird how you can be on this site and follow spurs transfers for years and be confident of us signing a player who would likely be our highest paid ever!

Jan aage Fjortoft (ex Swindon striker) does a lot of work for German TV and he has said on Twitter that Gotze will be leaving Bayern

"Götze going to Tottenham?
Looks like he WILL leave Bayern!

Big stories in German press today"

He's hardly set the world alight since joining Bayern, anyone who watches Bundesliga football would know that. Bayern have wanted rid for quite a while, the question has to be asked 'why'...?

If it's a knockdown fee, like VDV was, then it's no brainier but if it involves a huge fee + wages then best to look elsewhere. The bundelsliga has lots of quality AM that I'm ure our scouting team can recommend.....

Not as excited as some with this link- not sure he is what we need to compliment existing players. That's not to say he isn't very talented.

But then hey, I didn't want us to sign Toby and Eriksen so what the fuck do I know really...

I was mentioning the need for a lock picker to a mate just this morning and we where talking Ross Barclay or breaking the back for Marez.

But gotze would be ideal for £20m - but I would suggest this is a tactic to get bigger European clubs interested.

Under poch he could unlock his undoubted talent. So I'm praying his is true!
