As much as I agree with Adebayor and Harry that a penalty and a sending off would have been better than just the goal can you imagine how much stick the ref would have got for ruling out Bales goal? I just can't have a go at him for allowing it to stand.

And SP - I agree with you it was the players reactions that influenced the decision - although I think it was more Mata than JT this time.

I didn't say JT was celebrating...I said I thoght he fouled Cudicini ;)

Should have had a foul anyway as when King got in that great clearing header he was smashed by Terry, which also took down Cudicini, anywhere alse on the pitch that's a free kick...

I'd like to play a game with Martin Atkinson's face and a high speed train, 'called is this over the line?' where i (blindofolded) gently push his head closer to the train each time one comes and utter the phrase "is this over the line?" When he says yes i stop, but due to his poor judgment i don't trust he knows when to stop... Oops

Pity the NOTW closed down, a dinner between the fake sheikh and Atkinson would be very revealing I think

It would indeed.

Unless the hookers, caviar and vodka were funded by a certain, ahem, oligarch.

Cartoon Russian mobster: "You understand Pavlov? I press this lever, and the dog becomes excited. I press this one, and the dog feels pain. I hold the lever. You are the dog. It is your choice. Pleasure or Pain?"

Atkinson was the referees assistant behind the goal for the Bayern and Madrid game tonight, down the other end was Clattenberg, not sure if they were assisting or getting some training on what is a goal and what isn't. With Webb as the ref is was like the holy trinity of fuck ups for us.

So it was basically a United training exercise?

I know the appointment was made before Sundays game but it kind of rubs salt in the wound to see him given that particular job, assisting the ref on penalty area and goal line incidents. The FA should have stepped in and told UEFA to pick someone else, but I guess it just shows our place in the grand scheme of things.

As a Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur fan I feel the horrible three refs want to follow me...... I can't see any of them anymore. I missed Foy as 4th official

I had it saved it on my Sky+ to watch when I got in, to get some footballing therapy away from Tottenham's implosion - switch it on and see the trilogy of fucking horror staring back at me.

Clattenburg and Atkinson as goalline assistants - I mean, I didn't know whether to laugh or cry and with the crowing turd Howard Webb (who did have an excellent game actually) running the show it was all rather apt.

I hear you mate, and you're right Webb actually had a very good game tonight, got two penalty decisions spot on with Ribery and then Gomez...
