Yes, and with my optimistic hat on, I wouldn’t put it past them to leak that to force us to improve our bid even if Chelski aren’t really in the mix.

Very optimistic I'd say. The loan makes perfect sense for them and Chelsea probably need a new midfielder due to the switch in formation (seeing as they refuse to play RLC).

Another thing in Chelsea's favour, no CL means Madrid don't even have to worry about him playing against them.

Only reason they'd do Chelsea such a big favour is so they can get Hazard. Which is great, until they use that money to buy Zaha and last minute of window swap Willian for Martial.

Maybe because there's nothing on the market for them at this stage. They might hope after a year he tries to force a move next summer also.

We’re 6th choice, 5th at best, for any top player coming to the PL. The other 5 pay more than us & currently more prestigious as well. Of course Kovacic is going to choose CFC over us. CL or not they pay more than us, are currently far bigger & realistically offer more chance of trophies too.

p.s. Was he even a target? Apart from our fans making him one, and the other fantasist link in dubious papers, I didn’t see anything significant to say we were ever interested in him.

Because only two of them are probably considered good enough, Fabregas is probably seen as a back up and for whatever reason RLC isn't favoured. Big clubs are ruthless like that.

I'm sure I'll get pounded with optimistic ratings for this, but milinkovic-savic is still at Lazio, and hasn't been mentioned recently by anyone, right? I'm sure we've had ITK saying we were monitoring him, maybe we're waiting for the last day to bid for him, to test Lazio's resolve and to make sure no one else can gazump us?
