The utter arrogance of people suggesting we were a better prospect than Chelsea at the start of the window.

Same as it ever was.

Not sure it was arrogance. Just a combination of having CL, Chelsea being in a state of flux and Hercules asserting early on that only the Manchester clubs can spend more than us.

I think it was reasonable for us to be confident. It would just be utterly baffling if Kovacic went there and we haven't even been linked. He's the best player apparently on the market in the position in which we have the most need. I just can't understand why we haven't even been in the conversation.

I'm sure we've had ITK saying we were monitoring him, maybe we're waiting for the last day to bid for him, to test Lazio's resolve and to make sure no one else can gazump us?

This really isn't a Poch type signing either. Besides the loan situation makes zero sense to us. Poch doesn't want someone coming in for a year, he is very much about the project of buying a player and developing them into a greater player - which is why some of the other links make much more sense. Unless there is a player out there that we haven't thought about then it's one of N'Dombele and Lobotka.

I don't know why Chelsea would loan him without an option. I really don't see it. Will absolutely suck if he goes to Chelsea and makes no sense for Kovacic ether if it is just a loan.

I make you right there. I'd like either of those but whether we get either of them is another story! I'll be content, but still annoyed at how good a player Chelsea have borrowed.

As I said, probably just optimistic, but I feel like if no one else goes in for him then they might consider a big of £70m (which were supposedly willing to pay for martial) plus bonuses. They just have to look at Torino rejecting big offers for belotti last year to see what they could be missing out on. The united link probably only happens if pogba leaves, which I can't see happening

Our rivals signing top class CMs. Kovacic. Keita. Fabinho. Jorginho. Fred.

What are we doing? Struggling to sign Grealish from championship Villa.

Our CM currently consists of Dembele who wants to leave and is past it. Wanyama who is a crock. Winks who is also always injured and hardly top class. Dier who might be needed at CB anyway because we are selling Toby to another rival.

This window is actually pathetic. 2 days left, wtf is Levy playing at.

I hope the bullish happy clappers enjoy watching us try to compete against our rivals this season with a non existent CM.

I still haven't forgotten City away when Winks and a half fit Dembele got utterly schooled in midfield.
