He's been better under Conte mostly but still nowhere near the level. I'm sure we will still get a few quid for him in the summer. Sometimes these transfers just don't work

Good to see. I like it he was happy with himself for doing it. A personal win for him, if only a small one.

It shows a great mentality that he was that satisfied after the block. He's always done well for us in a green jersey so I've more affinity than most spurs for him so was great to see this reaction. We all know he isn't at the level we want but clips like that show he cares and also shows that he still has bits to contribute. Hopefully for his sake he has some more decent cameos before end of season which will help him get a move which would be best for all concerned.

Yeah I have never piled in with the hate like a lot of people. I've always thought he's tried hard but like you say isn't up to the standard we want.

One of the main things that frustrates me with Doherty is that so often I feel like he's already decided he's going to pass the ball back before he's even received it and assessed his options.

I love that reaction from him yesterday though. He knows he's not really performing well, he knows he's second choice, he knows he could very well be out the door come the summer, but he's still taking pride in coming on as a sub and doing his part for the team, even if a small part. Shows a great attitude. Would rather see that than someone with all the ability but who also doesn't give a fuck, like Ndombele.

I said it elsewhere but I think it was a big part of our win the joy we took out of defending against a top team in their back yard. Doherty knew that was probably their last chance, he snuffed it out so why shouldn't he celebrate it? Chiellini would 100% do the same thing.

Oh I'll admit I've laid right into the guy.

Honestly think he's a terrible player BUT he's not hidden, he's not moaned & if memory serves me correctly, he's also one of those who've dealt with Covid, too?

However, unlike some MUCH more expensive signins, he does at least put some effort in

Very cool finish from him for his goal. Good to see him having a positive effect on the side.

I take no pleasure being critical of a player on a consistent basis, so I’m glad I can come into this thread to say something positive.

Excellent finish. Lovely pass into Kulusevski, too. Best game in a Spurs shirt.

Very positive performance, I think we play better football with him on the pitch given our current options. I am fond of trying to get Moura or Stevie into that wing back spot but Doherty in recent weeks has been on the pitch and involved during our better moments, namely Leicester and Man City.

Think he’s probably passed the audition today. Gets my vote over Royal from now on. Just looks more comfortable in that WB role.

Deserves a lot of credit for today. I know plenty have their preconceived notions about him as a player, but today he was great. Top finish as well. Hopefully that does kickstart and reignite his confidence.

His best performance for us ever. Would be okay with him starting ahead of Royal as Doherty seems to understand Conte's system as a RWB. He should definitely start the FA Cup game on Tuesday.

He has to play until the end of the season. He knows the position and what to do in the attacking third.

He's not that good but knowledge is power
