Just to cheer you all up, we are stuck with him until 2024. If we can't shift Aurier and then we have no chance of shifting him.

Don't think he was scouted at all. Not by our scouts or data analysts, unless it came at the latter stages.

I imagine it was a simple case of Mendes knowing the situation at Wolves and what fee Wolves would be happy with, he relayed that info to Jose, who probably was happy to do it as it gave him that advanced RB he wanted for his lopsided formation.

All that considered they realised it was a straightforward deal to do so noted Levy, who was happy to go cheap in this instance.

I can't for one second imagine out data analysts and scouts observed him on their own accord as a player we should follow. First of all, his age would have counted against him and secondly he didn't fit our system or team at all.
I think he was scouted when he scored and assisted at The THS, when he looked good or was that because we were so bad?
Maybe the latter.

such a bad player, there are bad players and than there is this guy, told he was good going forward, never seen him put a decent cross in
I am not saying he is not a bad player. But going forward doesn't 100% mean putting crosses. Some wing backs love overlapping runs while some enjoy underlapping runs. He would be bad in 90% of systems but I would say he can be fantastic in 19-20 Sheffield United's system, in which center backs are overlapping to put crosses and wing backs attacking the penalty area.

In North American sports, especially hockey, buy-outs happen relatively frequently. Do you ever see them over there?

I'd gladly say it for you but I can't be that complimentary.

Doherty should head back to Wolves (where he’s had good success) - and Traore should come to Spurs…

We need to dump this guy at all costs, even if it’s a season long loan. Would free up a non-HG spot to bring another player [Tomiyasu] in.

He’s dreadful. True deadwood

One of the worst players i've seen in a spurs shirt
That seems a bit harsh, but I'll admit the Pacos performance of Doherty and Winks, a game both should have dominated, particularly Doherty with no real threat on the right and plenty of possession, was one of the worst single game performances relative to expectations by any one Spurs player that I can remember in a few years. Definitely since the Soldado/Paulinho/Ciriches days. There have been other tough losses in cup games from bad goals conceded and a lack of chances created in the intervening years but I don't recall feeling so disgusted by any player's single game performance in a while. Doherty seemed to lose possession every time he touched the ball.

Can’t understand how he has gone from pretty decent at wolves ( stats wise ) to total dog shit with us.

We have to face it, we are stuck with him. I can only hope he improves and starts to play well.

Its simple, stats dont always show the truth and can be used to hide major flaws, someone within the last week tried to prove via stats that Bergwijn scores more goals than he should and we should be overjoyed he is over achieving, ps im not joking, go find somewhere in the traore thread.

What a terrible buy, especially when we had Tanganga and Aurier at the club last season.

We should have just played some kids....

Probably 3-5-2 into 4231. No defensive responsibility at Wolves and able to play high up the pitch. Just another incredibly poorly scouted player to add to the increasing list.

Could Mendes not just park him at one of the clubs he controls? We'd probably have to pay a decent chunk of his wages but it's worth it to get him out of the club. When has Mendes ever turned down an opportunity to collect an agent's fee?

If he had any other agent I'd be absolutely certain that we'd be stuck with him for the duration of his contract, but with Mendes the normal transfer logic does not apply. Hell, if he had any other agent we wouldn't have ever bought him in the first place.
