Funny how the presenters try and chalk him off by not properly addressing his point. :)

Syed has been banging this drum since 2006, as he writes for the Times and therefore a limited audience, most other media outlets have managed to ignore him. So pleased he has managed to reach a wider audience.

Had to laugh at Tony Cascarino trying to sound intelligent :D

Completely true - dirty money. Matthew Syed is spot on.

People should read his sports psychology books.

Books? I only know of one book, the excellent Bounce, and it isn't really about sports psychology

The sad fact is that the fans of that plastic club would not give a single fuck how he's got his money. All they see if a bloke who has come in, thrown money at the club they love, and won them things they couldn't win without that cash.

Excellently put by Matthew syed- really showed the difference between him as a good journalist and the other 3 all not knowing what to say really! He is usually well worth a read in the times as well

I think this is brilliant.

Syed presents the facts eloquently and concisely and the squirmy, "yeah, but he's spent loads of cash" responses he draws from the others demonstrate the true brain-numbing, conscience-clouding worth of all highly-valued televised entertainment.

Thankfully Syed is walking, talking, thinking evidence that it is still possible to be conscientious AND passionate about the beautiful game.

Bounce is about preparing for sport in order to win, hence sport psychology. Read it again.
I've just qualified as a teacher and I can tell you that Bounce is very highly regarded from a professional development point of view for us too so maybe it's about preparing for life rather than specifically sport? I don't know, I haven't read it.

Kirsty Gallacher flipping pissed me off in that video. Saying Chelsea put English football on the map, fucking idiot.

Edit - reading this post back, I don't know why I said 'flipping' in one sentence, then 'fucking' in the second, it's like I got progressively angry as I typed.

Agree with all the above comments...what an eloquent, erudite and educated perspective? Yes indeed, watching the other morons try to keep up was sad.

I think it's more so that they are too thick to even understand what the guy is saying.

Cascarino is sat there looking totally blank, like 'what the fuck is he talking about!'

Embarrassing!

The majority of older fans know money has played a part but only a small percentage will admit it, it's the "New Blues" that seem to be under some strange illusion that Chelsea have always been this good..
