did she? just goes to show why females shouldn't talk about football no matter how 'pretty' they are.
open season on unclebuck.....

She said something like 'he's put Chelsea on the map, he's put British football on the map'. I wouldn't agree with the idea that women shouldn't talk about football, just this particular woman has come out with a particularly stupid thing to say.

Kirsty Gallacher flipping pissed me off in that video. Saying Chelsea put English football on the map, fucking idiot.

And still syed destroyed her totally with his man utd response when she started that crap- made her look an absolute mug

Have to say that this is absolutely brilliant!

Love the way Syed debates his point, he always lets the other person talk even though he knows they're chatting shit , look at the way he handles Jim White's point on 1:16, even though he knows White is totally out of his depth he continues his point in a polite manner.

Cascarino is such a nob, really can't stand that man. Basically justifying corruption just to get some sort of point across to sound intelligent - surely better off just shutting up

Best comment on youtube:

Matthew Syed - Obtained first class honours in philosophy, politics and economics at Oxford University against Kirsty Gallacher who studied fashion that well known institute "The London College of Fashion" and only has a journalism career because she's quite attractive. Listen to the eloquence and clarity of what he says - then she counters the argument with something an 11 year old would say. Almost felt sorry for Syed for putting up with her. Must've been like talking to a brick wall with tits

Don't you just love it when the interviewers lose control of the narrative

Not for this thread really but this is a perfect example of the above comment, for those that have not seen it yet.

Matt Syed has done his research and is prepared to put his arguement out there.

This geezer just simply OWND the three of them!

The majority of older fans know money has played a part but only a small percentage will admit it, it's the "New Blues" that seem to be under some strange illusion that Chelsea have always been this good..

I'm not that old, but even I remember Chelsea not being as good as we are right now. The other day I was looking at a table of most successful English clubs and it's saddened me that Chelsea has now overtaken us in trophies. Before the Abramovic era they were quite a few behind us. Their history is mostly new, and bought.

Great clip. Had to laugh Cascarino's reaction when Syed's talking about how the owners have exploited football culture for their own personal gain. It's like he's just heard the word exploitation and thought I know that word, I can join in now, and he then goes on to completely miss the point again.

I've just qualified as a teacher and I can tell you that Bounce is very highly regarded from a professional development point of view for us too so maybe it's about preparing for life rather than specifically sport? I don't know, I haven't read it.

There are a lot of lessons in there, and it's certainly not confined to just sport. The subtitle is "The talent myth and the power of practice" and that's exactly what it's about. Nothing to do with sports psychology.

It's great that you have been introduced to it as a teacher. After reading it I wished teachers of all kinds could read it. It's the book I wish I'd read as a kid or my teachers had read.

There are City fans that say the same thing, fans that have been fans for years. In their eyes City has been one of the best teams in europe for years, they just had 20 years of unimaginably bad luck all at the same time

Chelsea and City have history, but both were essentially nothing clubs in the 80's and early 90's. If FFP does it's job both might eventually go back to where they belong

There was a definite gulf in the intelligence levels on display in that "debate" lol.

That was my favourite comment too. Love how Syed manages to bring the mood up at the very end too, so he doesn't sound like a negative lefty but at the same time not belittling his points he made... might just have saved his bacon!

I'm very surprised he got that amount of time to talk about his point of view, especially on the mind numbing *all hail to the supreme leader* SNN.

Every single time I see Russel Brand this picture pops into my head. Heroin really is a fucking amazing diet solution.

Cascarino... Oh dear. You could see he was sitting there not knowing what the hell Matthew was talking about an then heard the word corruption and thought " I know what corruption means, I've seen blood diamond"

To be fair to the pre-Abramovich Chelsea, they had a history of turning out top class players from the late 50s to the early 70s: Greaves, Tambling, Venerbles, Bonetti, Osgood, Hudson to name some of the best. And there were also Houseman, the Harris brothers, and McCreadie.

Cascarino's argument was basically the same of that which might be given by a teenager who has just been caught smoking a spliff, 'but everyone else is doing it'...
