Got to wonder how enticing for De Ligt it would be rejoining Sanchez also, must help knowing a past teammate is already at the club, so you can settle into an old partnership.

As an 18-year-old who has been at Ajax since the age of 8, it’s very possible Vertonghen and Eriksen are childhood heroes of his. Fingers crossed that could play a small part too.

I feel bad for Ajax, they must really hate us. A once great club now just a selling club. Good for us but shame for them, perfect club for us to buy from and mound ourselves on players from, good technique and attitudes.

Interesting point because I think that the best defenders are the ones that have to do a lot of defending. Guardiola's Barcelona, Bayern and Man City are all teams who have dominated their opponents consistently and defenders generally get a pretty easy ride. As an example, I doubt if Puyol or Ramos would have done as well in mid table teams, particularly in England. Where those players were outstanding was having the concentration to make the right decisions on the rare occasions they were called into action. I don't see those type of clubs as the environment for a player as young as DeLigt to gain the experience to make him the best.

Im not sure about that, Guardiola tends to push his centre backs very high up with emphasis on getting the ball back quickly. He also wants defenders to be technically very able. But he leaves his CB very exposed to one on one situations.

I think Guardiola likes his Centre backs to be not just defenders, but I don't think its as easy ride as you make out, you have no shield in his teams.

Fair comment, but it's born out of the confidence in the ability of the players in front to keep possession and score goals.
