Hopefully the Sanchez factor will help sway de ligt and the opportunity to be a regular. Honestly feel 3 years down the line he will be better than Toby he would soften the blow 100 percent, back three of de ligt Sanchez and jan ??!

But in 3 years we will sell gim to united or city whilst being weaker for tbe next 3 years without Toby

Hopefully if we keep getting these younger guys they'll feel more at home here with less of a sense to leave. Besides I don't see any significant Dele or Dier rumors. It's only the older players we hear about. If we can keep De Ligt and Sanchez until they're 28. We're winning a title or two based off that solid of a pairing. I mean they're both on pace for top 5 in the world type of CBs.

Ideally keep Toby and use the money elsewhere but I guess that ship has sailed.

Not that I think this kid isn't going to be the dog's bollocks one day though.

Can't believe we're potentially selling Toby to sign an unproven prospect.

What a joke!

We're going backwards.

How is signing the best young CB in Europe a sign we’re going backwards? Toby’s hardly played all season and clearly wants to move so fuck him.

Most highly rated young defender probably in world football vs a guy who clearly wants to leave and is becoming a bit injury prone (although a wonderful player). We are all sad Toby is leaving but if we get this kid we will have our defence sorted potentially for a decade with him and Sanchez.

Young is the key word, we're not strengthening the side by moving Toby out and playing De Ligt. We're going further away from the top clubs in the PL and Europe.

As for Toby, how do we know that he wants to leave? Maybe he just wants to be paid the market rate for a centre back of his quality. What's the club's goal, does Daniel & the board want to win the league or CL?

I'm yet to be convinced by De Ligt, the Dutch league made Depay and Janssen look like world beaters.

Except we strengthen a rival by selling them one of the best CBs in Europe.

Toby in our side and system is a top player... But was not amazing for A. Madrid and I have always liked Jan more not sure why..I think as long as we buy well I would be ok with him leaving for the right money. Besides United are already good defensively so not sure how much Toby would improve them as they play pretty negatively.

Was kinda nodding on the paragraph above then you decided to write the second ... the Dutch league also produced Verts, Toby , VDV, Robben etc .... every league has their hit and miss players when they move out of that league

Playing only in the Dutch league seems to of been alright for Jan & Sanchez.. City Barca etc being linked with De Ligt should be enough for those who haven’t seen him play to see what sort of calibre player he is.

The ITK guys were all confident Toby’s contract was sorted for around 150k.. VVD transfer to livershite and his camp suddenly bump the goal posts. Can’t have it both ways. If he wanted to stay so much he’d of appreciated becoming one of clubs highest paid players

Dutch league is shit for players. Eriksen, Vertonghen and Sanchez just don't cut the mustard. Let's put all players in the Depay and Janssen league shall we?

Worth pointing out Depay is having a great season out in France. A United mate who is a huge Depay fan pointed out to me his goal and assist return is better than the golden boy Mbappe’s in a far worse side.

Yeah, if we needed a winger I'd be in on bringing in Depay. Think he's ready for the big time again. He's a super talented player just made the jump to a United side in total disarray that played some horrible football.

Did this guy play with Sanchez last year?
yes they were a partnership

Just to be clear here - de Ligt only played 6 Eredivisie matches in 2016/17 - so it was not a year-long partnership.

Also looks like Ajax played 3 in the back - with de Ligt on the right, Sanchez in the middle and Riedewald on the left. But, hard to tell for sure, just looking at a line-up.

They mainly played together in the Europa League - where obvs they made it to the final.
