Ho hum. I know a win would have been just what the doc ordered, but a point away to Boro is not to be sneered at. Add to it the fact that we would have taken all 3 but for a wonder strike, and I don't see how we can be too disappointed by today's match.

90 more minutes for Ramos to get to know the capabilities of his squad, and I think we're in good shape to face Hapoel Tel-Aviv.

Let's take it one step at a time. Nice as it would be for Ramos to come in and turn us into title contenders, I think even the dreamers amongst us knew that it wouldn't be that easy.

We'll get there guys, don't worry. COYS! :)

No last minute collapse. No loss. Bent and Defoe did well. Improvements are already showing after just one week.

No doubt someone will bring up the HOME win against Middlesbrough in the Mickey Mouse Cup as some sort of evidence that Jol is better than Ramos. Hmm, wonder who that could be...

Gutted. I never knew that football effected my mood so much until this season. Come Friday (unless there's a UEFA game) I'm normall back to great spirits, only for them to be destroyed by Saturday. Juande was clearly not happy with the team - often telling them to concentrate and the like. You can tell they've done a fair amount of work on the training ground.

For me players that cut the mustard were: Malbranque, Bent, Dawson (v. good apart from slip), Defoe and a half for KBP and Chimbo

Players who stood out as being rather poor were our two second half CMs - jenas and zokora who were frustratingly DIRE - so much so that they don't deserve a capital letter for their surnames.

We didn't lose 2-1! Nice surprise. At least Bent looked lively.

See! Positives aren't hard to find if you just look.

Our £16.5m player is the kind that can't just slot into any old system. You need to play to Bent's strengths, and if Ramos' style suits that, brilliant! It was apparent that Bent didn't fit into the tactics that Jol liked, so for him to have his best game in Juande's first league game is great news.

I have to say we managed a draw against an extremely poor Middlesbrough side. At the moment I fell kind of numb about it all. We weren't that good but, Bents goal was an excellent strike. Dawson apart from that slip looked a lot better. Boateng looked promising but, reminds me of Jenas about 4 years a go. Defoe look lively at times but, when he had the chance to put Bent in choose to shoot from distance.

Whoever said we had a top 4 squad I am afraid was sadly mistaken.

Ceuta, where Nayim seems to have been born, is a Spanish enclave in North Africa, totally surrounded by Morocco, much like Hong Kong and China.

So, in a way, he's both Spanish & Moroccan! You're both right.

Big "Phew" on my behalf.

These are the type of games that we need to win so I'm disappointed with the result, we need to start picking up some wins quickly.

Dissapointing with a 1-1 draw today, but I liked that he did dare to change the team, and put in Bent, Defoe, Boateng from the start.

It was OK that he tried a new partnership in the 2nd half, but Keane and Berbatov did not impress today. I disagree with the Boateng - Zokora change. I thought that Jenas should have gone off instead of Boateng. Boateng and Zokora would be an exciting combination.

A little bit unlucky today aswell, when Young scored that cracker. Once in a lifetiime goal, and always against Spurs. A little bit bad defending there, though....

We will get better, though....
