SC Strikers? Was that Dougal in goal, Deej at the back and Dibby running down the wing? ;-)

OS is early for once !

Our Academy squad finished fifth in the Milk Cup in Northern Ireland after beating USA team South-Coast Strikers on penalties on Friday afternoon.

It finished 1-1 at full-time at the Showground, Coleraine with Dominic Ball, Freddie Champion, Ruban Lameiras and Kolade Oduwa all keeping their nerve as we ran out 4-2 winners in the shoot-out.

"It was an even game and a good test against a strong team that included Under-17 internationals and reached the final two years ago," reported our Assistant Academy Manager Brian Klug.
"Dominic Ball (pictured) curled home a free-kick for 1-0 after 27 minutes and we played well in the first half.
"They equalised after 45 minutes and got on top but we got through that and there were chances at either end after that. We then did well in the penalty shoot-out.
"Overall, it's been a good tournament for us. We're by far the youngest team in the Premier section and the lads have come out of it with a lot of credit."

Spurs: Grainger, Ogilvie, Modeste, Gardiner, Michael-Percil, Champion, Lameires, Ball, Ward, McEvoy (Oduwa, 57), Zapata-Caicedo (Akindayini, 51).

Well done, kids. This is a very prestigious tournament and a hugely creditable performance.

Spurs : 5 mins 41 secs

Kenneth McEvoy with 2 goals in last 10 minutes.

This second win puts Spurs in 4th position in the table of the 20 teams on goal difference.

Tonights game against South Sea Strikers (US) could be the toughest of the three games - South Sea Strikers drew with Desportivo Brasil in their first match (Desportivo crushed their second opponents 7-0 yesterday) and South Sea Strikers beat County Londonderry 4-0 yesterday.

That Kenneth McEvoy looks like some player in that video. Also did anyone catch this article on him: http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/s...up-fans-enjoy-cream-of-the-crop-16029474.html

Sounds like we might have a hidden gem on our hands. Does anyone know anything about him?

Ken McEvoy is 17 (dob 4/9/94), plays for Republic of Ireland under 17's, and played a few games for Spurs under 18 side last season.

Seems to have done pretty well in the Milk Cup, and in the video clips of the tournament seems to be farly quick and reasonably 2 footed winger/striker- also caught the eye for a facial (but not body) similarity to Gareth Bale !

He looked to be good in the Milk Cup, and we'll just have to see how he develops over the next couple of years. Spurs have a number of promising players at that age group but its always unclear who the real stars will be in 5 years time at this stage of their development.

NextGen - approximates to under 19, precise criteria is 'All players must be born on or after January 1st 1993 although 3 players are allowed who are born on or after January 1st 1992' See the recent thread v Inter for the actual squad and team

Milk Cup - u 17's.

Academy - u 18's, however with a number of this age group playing in NextGen series, the team v West Ham seemed a lot weaker than usual (eg defence had 3 fullbacks and one striker). Having said that the reporters http://www.spursodyssey.com/ and http://windycoys.blogspot.com/ and OS suggested the score did not reflect the match !
