I like members to look at these clips and give your opinions on our movement.

I would have to watch the whole match again before making a realistic judgement.

However, the first half possession stats that popped up would suggest we weren't that bad.

Man City and Chavski now sniffing about apparently.... I know you shouldn't torture yourself on Newsnow with this sort of thing but I don't like how this is unfolding...

What I have said before, and Berby got pissed off with it too, when we are in possession of the ball we have no "intelligent" movement up front trying to make space, the opposition defence are loving it, just stading still. Also good to see Modders proving alot of people wrong staying on his feet when he could easily draw a foul.

I think its a lot like Berbatov, he wants to go and win things and play CL football (can you blame him). It's NOT about money at all, Modric is ambitious.

But at the moment he is happy to wait a season more as he is comfortable at Tottenham with his friends Corluka and Kranjcar.

Next summer I can see him leaving for a pretty pretty penny, but this summer I think a. the price and b. the manager/team mates are good and he will stay.

And yeah IMO for Modric you are talking £40-50 mill. I'm confident Levy will negotiate the best deal. Sadly though and I know its cliche but if Modric was to leave I would really fall out of love with football..

If we sell i'm cancelling my membership. Levy would have to go. As man in the raincoat said, "Big clubs don't sell to each other!!"

Modric will not be sold. Don't listen to all these stupid articles from the Daily Mail, Daily Star etc. They are all crap.

City are financially on a different plan to any other club in the world. If they want a player, his transfer value is meaningless, as they can always meet it and to accompany this, their wage offer will be mind blowing.

Unfortunately the threat of City looking to buy our best player is a very much alive and kicking.

Exactly. That was the main problem for us last season. We have a first class midfield and tons of options moving forward but we do not seem to utilize them well enough and that stems from poor movement.

We need strikers with better movement.

It's not just the strikers. It's everyone, really. There were a number of passages of play in that video where Bale could have taken up brilliant positions and didn't, for example.

You are firgetting that over the enxt few seasons City will be required to kerb their spending so spending out masses on wages and transfers may not be in their long term interest as it xcould start to caiuse problems once the new rules have effect.

With all the money they have at their disposal, a top legal team and some creative accountants will allow them to continue to spend huge amounts of cash.

Nonsense. Contrary to popular opinion, having a "top legal team" does not permit you to flout a basic rule. I don't see how they will get around it anymore than clubs have gotten around the transfer window and 25 man rule implementations.

I think you are a little naive to believe that City with all that investment will just accept what is put in front of them. They will have creative accountants who will be able to find lope holes, particularly around sponsorship deals, share options and naming rights to ensure that income to spend ratio is kept in line with UEFA guidelines.

^ I'm not saying that won't try. What I am saying is it's foolish to assume that having top accoutants and lawyers will mean that there are definately loopholes out there and that they can definately be gotten around.

Basically, you are jumped to one big huge conclusion.

Modric won't be sold this window. Absolutely no chance.

However, if we don't qualify for CL next season then we will have no choice but to sell him to the highest bidder and have to reinvest the money and go again.

That's just the way the food-chain works.

It's for this reason we should model ourselves on a Porto type club and accept that unless and until we make it to the top two or three in the land we're a club which will have to speculate to accumulate. Our CL quality players will have to be sold for top-whack and we have to invest in the next generation of Modrics and Berbatovs.

Yes, your view contains a level of realism, but never easy to accept.

Surely what matters is whether we can uncover the next Modric/Berba/Carrick? This is what consistency/club-first is about..

this is spot on for me, its what i said awhile back when the rumours 1st started. we arent chelsea or united, we cant offer our top plays mega wages to shut them up like united did to rooney, or other champions league or constant medals

instead we need to accept that we wont be able to hold onto a mega stars with 5th and 6th place finishes each yeah, and start right now looking for a youngster who has the potential to be better than modric, a kid who looks like he could be better than bale, etc etc.

i told me gooner friend that if they lose cesc this summer then it really isnt the end of the word as they'll have ramasy and wilshire fresh off the belt to replace

But Modders hasn't been whingweing and bitching and being an absolute twat, either.
He hasn't even said he wants to leave - in fact, he has said the opposite. He has went out of his way to say that he is very excited about the future at WHL. Under these conditions we shouldn't even be discussing this.
