He came to that conclusion after one game? I can see why he is not a manager.

How much did the Daily Mail pay Mark Bright to utter that load of tosh?

I cant really understand why he is being used as a co-commentator. Not exactly a legend is he? I know its difficult to find English players who are articulate etc but come on?

Nice enough guy but a great analyst? no...

I read this this morning. Pathetic.

He is the only person after that game that thought that. Its why he's a two-bob pundit. Hansen and co were singing his praises.

Its funny i was reading Mark Brights column this morning in the Metro and was amazed by this comment. Fair enough his own opinion and all that, but he seems to be the only one who thinks it.

Anyway, I personally quite liked Rebrov. It was the managers at the time who didnt.

He also said yesterday that the French team doesn't have a goal threat, I know they were shit but I think Benzema scoring 29 goals last year and that he's just about the hottest striking property on the planet and the fact Anelka has had more spent on him than any other player means they do have a goal threat, certainly more than Romainia.

I think Bright is either a bit of an idiot or tries to be different to attract attention to himself

I was arguing with my friend about this whilst watching the game, i think he meant they didnt have many international goals in the team, i.e Henry has scored twice as many international goals as the rest of the starting 11 put together.

I'd say the truth is somewhere in the middle of the two extremes for the Austria game. Why do people have to see things in such black-and-white terms? There are shades of grey between 'totally useless' and 'next Maradonna' that most people ignore.

In the Austria game, to be fair, Modric *didn't* look like a world-beater or worthy of the OTT praise that Hansen et al were so quick to give. Equally, he didn't have a terrible game and was (relatively) one of Croatia's better players on a day where none of them really got into gear. And he scored a penalty. In short, a solid, but unspectacular performance.

But that's just one game. Over the international games that I have seen Modric play, he does look a potentially very good player indeed, and he should be far better than Bright's rather stupid prediction suggests. However, people should take care not to go overboard the other way just because Bright had a dig at him: he didn't look like a £16.5m player on the basis of that Austria game, but that's not to say he won't produce the goods over a full season with Spurs.

I didn't think he was that good. not judging him though. he was busy but light weight and we won't see him playing centrally for Spurs.

What was evident that he was good at though was close control and a willingness to recive the ball in tight areas. Something so many british players shy away from.

I didn't think he was lightweight at all, managed to hold his own under a lot of pressure.

Also, Bright seems to be the sort of person who's never watched football in their life - "omg he's so shit he didn't do any stepovers and didn't score from 40 yards" sort of comment.

I think he did brilliantly doing a Carrick-esque job, and sitting deep when it was necessary, it's at least good to see that he can play centrally in a 4 man midfield, which was my main concern. Great players don't have to be spectacular all the time, he didn't put a foot wrong all game and helped his team protect a lead and go on to victory.

I will enjoy Mr. Bright eating his words over the course of the season.

Hopefully he will impress more as the tournament goes on. Does look a bit lightweight though.
