I think he is just being honest. Saying what we all know to be the case.

If a bid comes in, and Tottenham accept the bid, and Modric is happy with it (wages/the club he is moving to), he will leave. If we don't accept a bid, then he will stay.

He is just not bullshitting like many other players do.

Disappointing comments, I'm resigned to us losing him.

35 mil for modric?... I love him as a fan, but would selling him for HUGE help Spurs progress for the future? Is there room in the 11 for both he and VDV? If Spurs got the big money for him, then they could use that money to get a MEGA Top Striker, right?

Just throwing that out there... Again, I do not want him to go.

I'd hate to sell him but would you sell him if the price was right and what would the right price be?
Post bent and Carrol transfers I wouldn't entertain less than £45 million.

No, because;

1) He's our best player
2) What MEGA TOP STRIKER is going to join a small time club that sells it's best players every time Utd come calling?
3) We already have money to spend
4) Bale, VDV, Sandro etc aren't going to stick around knowing we're Utd's bitches
5) It's impossible to replace him with someone of the same quality

There is no upside to it whatsoever, I really don't understand why fans play the financial advisor, unless you're getting a cut of the money then why would you "take" £35m for him. We can't stack £35m in the centre of the pitch and tel it to run the game.

The moment we decided to stand still last summer, and in Jan, by not signing the striker we needed this season hence missing out on a CL spot, we became open to rumour and eventually bids for our big players. Get used to it as this is only the beginning, we got another 3 months of it to go yet.....

What "Mega Top Striker" is gonna join us now anyway with Modric....

I actually agree with the guy who said if we're going to sell Modric then why not sell Bale, VDV, Sandro, Lennon etc too and get the new stadium sorted. Slum it out for a few years with sub-par players like Scott Parker then come back and fight properly in 5 years time. Because right now we're not in a position to compete 100% and year by year our best players are going to get picked off one by one.

We must keep him or we are going nowhere. And we can and I believe we will.
We are in a much stronger position than with Berb and Carrick

love it

but you're spot on, I totally agree with your view point.

If we can survive this summer it will be a huge boost to our chances to push on again, providing we can address the problem areas in addition to holding firm.

The realist in me thinks that United will get him though and I dont think 35 million would be far off.

Agree with you brett. We're in this position every other couple of years and its fucked up. We need a bigger stadium otherwise we'll never be able to build a team that can consistently challenge. We keep having to rebuild and its a never ending cycle of "nearly there..." and then the inevitable "there's always next year" :bang: :bang:

Again the issue will be simple if Mr Levy and Modric can survive the gamesmanship that will be played out in the media over the next few weeks and months then we will be fine. But a big offer for Modric will be hard to refuse if the player becomes unsettled. Until then it makes a interesting talking point on forums. Why did the idiots here ban Gibbsy before all this blew up. It would be have been fun reading all the conjecture about Modric. I must the only one here who liked Modric and Gibsy. One because Modera did well for us this year. Two Gibbsy did bring few dreamers back down to earth.

Now whose the best that twat Fabergas or Modders.. I know who I would buy if I had 50 million quid and he would not speak Spanish as his first language.

I would be utterly shocked if Modric or any of our top players are sold this summer.

However there is a huge burden on our management/chairman to bring in at least 3 more top class players to ensure that we are fighting for the title next year, otherwise the likes of Modric and Bale will go.

teams wait years to get a player as good as modric to run their offence.

without him kicking up a fuss, id be very disappointed if we sold him this summer - for any amount.

Absolutely totally agree.

The thought of selling Modders makes me a little bit sad ..thats just the THOUGHT of it.

Modric is emerging as one of the best central midfielders in Europe, sure he could score more goals but aside from that can you name an aspect of his game that is not top notch?

I wouldn't sell Modric for £100m because who do you buy? We are in the Europa League and won't pay more than 100k a week, we have a small stadium that has more character than its modern counterparts but it not exactly world class.

Seeing "Spurs willing to sell for £25m" in the papers is down right insulting. We bought the player for £20m when he was a hot prospect and he has only improved since. If the market says Darren Bent is £24m and Guiseppe Rossi is £35m then Luka Modric is worth £60m because he is the heartbeat of this side.

I'm very hopeful we can keep a player like Modric and get back into the Champions League, selling him quite frankly would be the beginning of the end of this tremendously talented side.

i have been saying all along since xmas when i knew we would not get fourth that the summer transfer window and the ambition and progression of spurs will be absolutely massive. all the bs of bale modric and soon to be vdv im sure has just kicked in but who we sign and what we do will shape harrys and tottenhams future for years to come after the next season.. if we dont get in cl spots i can see both bale and modric leaving let alone vdv who wud prob leave anyway.. it is crucial we sign at least 3 top players in all areas of pitch this summer... if we do that im supremely confident of getting at least 3rd next season. we should have done it this season but some players in our first team are simply not up to it.. they talk the talk and bottom line are simply not good enough.. its a big summer . we need to seriously freshen things up, get players in who are real hungry and great work ethic and we have to show some ambition not only to players we have but a statement to other teams that we mean business next year.

When all is said and done it will be up to the board to show the supporters that they really mean business, wants the club to compete and send a message to our rivals that THFC are not a selling club...

Modric's on a 5 year contract, regardless of bids, we are in a position to say NO, insists Modric honours his contract and get on with it....I would admire the club even more if Modric runs down his contract then leaves on a free transfer after 5 years service as seeing him in a Spurs shirt is worth it.
