Modric would consider leaving if the move was right

God no! How is selling a world class Central Midfielder player, someone who controls a game and swapping him with a tough tackling Midfield player good business?

I really hope Luka doesn't go because he is the best footballer I've seen in a Spurs shirt since Gazza, but IF he does go then i would be looking more at someone like Marin from Werder Bremen who I thought was excellent against us in ECL.

if we can sell Modric for £30m+ and get Parker for under £7m thats good business surely?

im winding you up!!

I believe the context of the quotes being used regards Modric. It is indeed possible the reporter asked if club X put in a massive offer and it was accepted would you consider it? he replied with the maybe quote.Whilst its easy to then spin it in an omg Modric has doubts kind of way from one out of what 7 positive quotes. He may well figure well if the club is showing a lack of faith in him coupled with a willingness to let him go by accepting said bid then he is naturally obligated to entertain it afterall THFC will have shown its weak resolve, especially since Levy stated categorically NO bids will be entertained let alone accepted who would'nt react in a WTF? manner

This is also very much reflected by Modrics humble personality. How many times has he stated he is happy where he is? even to a point of being blessed to have the chance to be a part of something special, which he see's spurs are trying to build.Spurs gave him his opportunity on the big stage away from his humble upbringing.Surely I am not alone in recalling his anger/embarrassment at his wages being made more public than is to his liking as he earns a hell of a lot in comparison to his people in Croatia.

The wants CL bit is nothing more than has being stated by both VDV and Bale and dont see all this botox about them wanting to leave blah blah.Infact I am fairly certain that comment regards CL actually had with Spurs again as in the club got a great taste what idiot would not wish for a repeat of glory nights in Europe given the amount of asskissing we got from the media about our exploits it enhanced the club aswell as the players.Loads of our players have said how they enjoyed it Gallas,VDV,Bale,Dawson.

In short I can't help but feel bemused at some of the reactions and eagerness to talk about a Modric departure as if it's a given. When quite frankly 99 out of 100 quotes by people who actually do have an actual say an understanding of the situation namely Levy,Harry and Modric have all stated NOT for sale not encouraging bids.Yet some wankstain offering up tomorrows chipwrap with a negative slant on some comments,is magnified into something of huge substance.Seriously smacks of boredom due to a lack of activity regards transfers which is understandable given the season has only just ended.Think I much rather go back to the wtf 101 Parker in/out shake it all about stuff.

Levy must now come in with a massive signing to get our most precious players excited about playing for Tottenham next year.

Worrying times, Modric goes then Bale, Sandro and our best player imo VdV will go.

Anything but a big name like Berbatov, Drogba, Ibrahimovic will not do!!

An outstanding winger would polish us off too, like Young......

It is going to be a long ol' summer, that is for sure. Wish I could just go fishing until the transfer window closes...

Blimey, even when Modric says he doesn't want to go people see it as a sign he's off tomorrow.

This is a guy who doesn't speak English as a first language, is unlikely to be aware of how his words will be twisted, and no doubt there was a ton of leading questions and quotes not included in this non-story.

Can we all take a breath and calm down a little, at least until the final few days of the window?

More chance of hell freezing over! What massive player will come to Spurs with our wage cap? We can't even sign a dead beat player like Forlan cause his wages are too much and you think we can afford wages for Ibrahimovic?

Even Young! If Liverpool offer him 100k per week like they did with Joe Cole then he will not sign for us. Realistically we can only sign players that the current top 4 and Liverpool don't want!

The interview was with a Croatian magazine, so unlikely to be because of his English. Translations could be suggestive though.

This. It was only recently we heard the most unequivocal statements that he was happy and going nowhere, one interview that Ol' Bacon Face's cohorts in the media have jumped on and we're all crapping ourselves? I'll give Luka the benefit of the doubt on this one.

His head may be starting to turn but he has 5 years left on his contract, we sold before because we had to sell (2 years left). If we sell our best players when they have 5 years left on their contracts then we may as well give up as a club. I hate what football is turning into, they should abolish the champions league! How can it be more important to finish 4th than it is to win the FA Cup! It's a joke!

I think people should stop reading between the lines and just look at history.

If a big enough bid comes in, we will sell him. Of course, no one (but DL) knows what "big enough" is. One has to consider that by selling Modric we don't only lose our best player, but the likes of Bale, vdV, etc. move one step closer to the door, superstar signings get more difficult. And CL moves further away. Those things have financial ramifications while businessman DL will take into account; hopefully he'll decide that Modric is worth more to the club than whatever offers come in.

If people think that negative fan reaction will sway his thinking, they are delusional. DL knows that WHL will be full every game next year, even if 10000 disgruntled fans sell their season tickets.

On the upside, it seems unlikely Modric will pressure for a move this year, although I would think that it would be almost inevitable next year if we don't get CL.

Yep, thats the way I see it too.

Whilst I don't think he'll go and the quotes certainly don't say he wants a move, they nonetheless are a slight change in stance from Modders, especially the remark about wanting again to play in the CL.

I guess only time will tell.

he will not be sold for any amount of money...he simply will not!

DL isnt stupid, both LM & GB will only get better....they will be worth much more in the next 2 years & still have 2 & 3 years on their contracts....

we will qualify for the champs league again anyway...

Fabregas wanted to go to barca, rooney nearly left utd, terry nearly went to city.gerrard nearly went to chelsea.......my point is all clubs have their top players linked with moves, but they hang on to them , how? by busting a gut to keep them.......i am sure if Harry and Levy want they will keep him, he isn't a tool like berba who would walk out like a ****........... i hope.
