I'm assuming Mitchell has been doing his job and has a list of suitable CMs that doesn't start with Schneiderlin and end with Kramer or Imbula.
Be an absolute disaster if we don't bring in a suitable CM this summer.

Not a disaster. A mild disappointment which may open the door to other as yet unknown to us opportunities and possibilities.

And as the wheel turns, so the world doesn't end...

Don't know.

Thanks mate, will be in and out of signal all day, but will post what I can when I can. Slightly different crowd to the last few times so not sure what I will hear tbh.

Just hang 'em over the side of your boat until they tell you everything they know!

Happy fishing ...

So heartbroken Louis is, but hearts can only stay broken for so long in this business. In a few minutes, that phone will ring again, but this time it will be Morgan Schneiderlin on the line. He’ll tell Louis about how it has always been his dream to play for a club the size of Manchester United and how he grew up watching them on TV when his parents allowed him to stay up late and that should he want his services, they are available. Louis will smile and say yes, but it is only a half-hearted smile and a half-hearted yes. Bastian was the one he really wanted. Moments after that, the phone will ring once more. It will be Nicolás Gaitán’s Mr/Mrs 10%. He wants in too.

from the Grauniad rumour mill . :)

Just saying I'd never really heard of Schneiderlin before we were interested in him. He was never on my radar as a footie watcher in the UK. Doesn't count for anything at all of course. Just saying.

*I had heard of Claise though, and many others.....

That means Clasie's off "somewhere" then. I think Southampton want him as Schneiderlin's replacement. I'd happily nick him from under their noses.
Tbh I don't have a clue what our strategy is at the moment. Sounds like contrary to other reports as per usual all our eggs were in one basket once again with Morgan.

Sorry to be a party pooper and if the wrist slitters could just hold off a little longer, I've just read the Mirror article and there is absolutely nothing in it to suggest its not just all made up sales copy.
Basically their scoop is based on nothing more than has been around for days now, the fact that Schneiderlin wants his future settled by next week ish, it also says that he wanted to go to arsenal last season but Southampton blocked the sale, funny because last year nobody thought that or reported that, it was all about us so even that knowledge is beyond whoever wrote the article.
I don't say he won't go to United, I don't know, but it really would be daft to start slitting your wrists based on this little bit of nonsense.

This isn't another Mountinho situation, I think it's looking like schneiderlin to Manchester United, but it's not the final week of the window with limited alternatives, I know we can all throw names into the fray and hope, but let's have a little faith that the club will be working on strengthening key areas, plenty of time left in this

Interesting that JJ hasn't pooh-poohed it already, he is normally quick to let us know so we can move on.

That said I'm resigned to losing him to Man Utd. Nothing we can do there and there's plenty of time to get another good option in. Nowhere near the Moutinho cock up even if it is another manager's top target failure (the true failure being last summer).

Just to think that we would have signed MS last summer and were all set to do so until Arsenal came along and pinched Chambers.

I wonder if we would have made top 4 last season, considering we were only 6 points off it, had we managed to do this deal then.

Fucking Arsenal.

Scummy toss rags the lot of them. Regardless of topic or context.

Schneiderlin should not define our TW the way Moutinho, Oscar and Willian have.

I have faith in our new recruitment and coaching structure. I don't expect us to spunk £30m on a single player anymore, but perhaps develop a sustainable model of football (like Ajax), which means yes, we won't be in the 'top 4" by default unless we have a remarkable season and make some dramatically astute purchases.

We are clearly on the cusps of really good times if Pochettino lives up to the faith placed in him and the faith he places in our/his players, but with a new stadium coming, numerous young players ready to break into the first team things will be good.

I'd love to see the likes of Kane, Bentaleb, Mason, Rose, Pritchard, Carroll, CCV, Veljkovic, Dele Alli etc. lift a trophy for us. That would be far more satisfying to watch than the sort of success Chelsea and Man City have had of late. Also, I don't see how Louis van Gaal would have worked for us - he's too used now to buying his way out of trouble.

COYS.

Agree. If it was August 30/31st and we were still trying to get MS in as our one key signing, only to see him go elsewhere, then I'd be annoyed.
However, it's June 26th, which means we still have just over 2 months to identify and sign a good alternative, and there's a good chance that will happen in plenty of time.

The key difference between this summer and last summer is that there is no major international tournament affecting transfers.
Last year we were allegedly lining up players that were out in Brazil and then went on holiday and wouldn't commit to anything until much later in the summer. This year it seems players are eager to sort out moves early in the window, allowing them to get a proper pre-season session in with new team.

Personally expect Carroll to be sold. Think Tim will want him at Villa to replace Cleverly. Makes sense to me.

Yeah don't think Carroll will be lifting a trophy for us. All my concerns about him were reinforced by his performances for the under-21s. Just not going to cut it. If Tim wants him then great!

Good news at least that this one hasn't dragged on all summer. Plenty of time to move onto other targets.

Sky Sources backing up Utd interest now. Time to call this one off I think.
I get the impression he's not top of their list though. Schweinsteiger is the one they really want so hopefully they get some encouragement on that in the coming days.

But yes it does seem as though the move he was referring to is this move to United.
