Sideways Step????

Saints Position in past 10 years: 7th, 8th, 14th, 24th, 46th, 51st, 43rd, 40th, 26th, 32nd, 20th.

Spurs Position: 5th, 6th (fired AVB), 5th, 4th, 5th, 4th, 8th (fired Ramos), 11th (fired Jol), 5th, 5th.

Delusional doesn't even begin to describe them and anyone else who would believe it is a "sideways step".

But then again they've always had a chip on their shoulder with us. We took Hoddle, Dean Richards, MP off them and now hopefully MS is next!

Whether or not we are a sideways step, I think us signing Schneiderlin is just not gonna happen.

@LyallThomas Heard they've been backed in meeting MS's asking price and it's done to persuading player..

@Jonny_2607 not a chance

@LyallThomas Fair dos just what was passing through. Upwards of £23m does seem too steep anyways

@Jonny_2607 he wouldn't sign for Tottenham. Sideways step.

These tweets don't seem to be on lyall Thomas time line?

I don't really get this sideways step nonsense - I mean, if it's a sideways step whilst you're at the, ahem, smaller club, wouldn't your presence alone make your new club bigger simply by you being there?

Disagree all you want but I've checked his timeline & I can still see them!

If he genuinely thinks we are a sideway step then he is an idiot. Wouldn't surprise me though as there is a lot of short termism amongst the football fraternity.

Another Spursy story:

Summer 2014: Agree terms with top target, can't agree fee with the club
Summer 2015: Agree fee with the club, can't agree terms with same top target

Whats next?
Summer 2016: Agree fee and personal terms, can't get it done because running out of time?

I'm aware I'm being optimistic, but we seem to be running a much tighter ship and leaks seem to be few and far between in recent times.

There's every possibility that when a plank like Lyall comes knocking for a scoop on a deal like this, that he'll get palmed off and not given info that could potentially spring other clubs into action. Move along, nothing to see here.

I'm also aware that if the player wasn't so keen on a move that his agent would be spouting off to get Arse*** or Utd to react but just a thought.

Optamistic ratings in three... Two... One...

It does make you wonder though why they are still trying to pursue him unless some sort of encourage must still be there, otherwise find someone that does want to play for us.

I saw them on his timeline earlier.. He definitely said it.. About Southampton to spurs being a side ways step, well that's just crazy talk, they had one good half season were they surprised everyone ,I don't think they'll finish as high as they did next year

Oh and if we have met their asking price and he doesn't want to come - move on and find someone else - I hope no one else meets the asking price and he's stuck there

Let's see, when we finished above Utd two seasons ago, would a player moving from us to them have been a sideways step?
