Sam Wallace who is main football journalist for the Independent has tweeted that we will offer 14 mill for Rodriguez tomorrow. Townsend part of the deal
Have a mate who is on the papers editorial team and Sam Wallace is a decent journalist...but like all only as good as his sources

Instead of buying 2 at 10 m pounds and 1 at 5 . Why not buy one for 25 and promote ceballos and mason and have an quality anchor in our side? Ffs

We probably blew it by asking for Townsend being part of the deal.

I heard we agreed on a deal for 20mill but we wanted them to take Townsend so they upped it to 27mill

Can anyone still see this happening? It seems like Pochettino's "Moutinho" to me

I think there's a chance if we can find takers for some other central mids. Otherwise, I think it's dead in the water for now.

What I speculate will happen is we'll go with Stambouli, get to next summer, sell one of Dembele or Paulinho, and then go for Schneiderlin. It's also of course entirely possible we even manage to swing this in January. But I don't see it happening tomorrow.

For me it's now or never. He will go somewhere else next summer if we can't get him this window.
I think he may go somewhere else now as his stock is high. Scoring twice on Saturday will only make the many teams who can do with this type of player look at him. I am thinking of Manu and Arsenal but also Mourinho likes the odd disciplined DM or three

This smacks of the Moutino deal. Both Managers desperate for their "engine" but will not get them.

Except Schnierderlin is on low wages and desperately wants to join (even choosing us over Arsenal - how often does that happen?). We really needed to make this happen and with the money we saved by not buying MM we clearly have the funds.

def. Its one of those situations where Levy has to put faith in a manager and say "fuck it, lets do it. Be it on your head should it be the wrong decision".

Absolutely. If MS was 30 I could understand, but at 24 his value is still going to hold.

Will Morgan Schneiderlin finally move to Spurs? His agent certainly hopes so
It's one of the longest-running sagas of this summer - will Morgan Schneiderlin finally get the move to Tottenham that he wants? Neil Ashton has the latest:

'An anxious day for Morgan Schneiderlin. His agent was at Southampton's team hotel on Saturday trying to convince the board to let the midfielder leave for Tottenham... And then his client scored twice in an impressive 3-1 victory.'

Probably rubbish.

All the noise from saints has always been he is staying I don't see that changing, especially now they have dropped their interest in Townsend. Who can blame them. A day of outs for us I'm afraid too late as usual.
