So we've had the itk from Jasper on this guy in the RO.

What's everyone's opinion on him?

I've always rated him and I'm glad I got the chance to see him against us last game as it reaffirmed what I thought.

Personally think he'd thrive in a team like ours and would step up because of the competition here.

We will be able to afford his wages and didn't he come out earlier in the season saying he would love to play for Spurs?

Good player, very skillful on the ball. would provide competition for places. Though I have to disagree with those saying 'sell modric and buy dembele'. Totally different players imo, though they have 1 thing in common: lack of goals.

I like him, but I think we've got a stack of midfield deadwood to get rid of. We can't afford to have central midfielders of Modric, Parker, Sandro, Huddlestone, Jenas, Livermore and Dembele on the books before you even take into account VDV, Pienaar and Kranjcar, who can also play there. It's a 'yes' from me in principle, but not a priority area until we can offload some of the shit.

He would probably be a good squad player but we have lots of deadwood to shift before I would bother picking up the phone for him.

Putting my post in the Twitter thread here.

Dembele is more of a VDV than a Modric.

He's a cracking player, but personally don't think he's needed - unless we're committing to the 4-2-3-1 formation instead of going with the bastard 4-4-2. He can play where VDV plays and up front, and if Bale ever got the hang of coming inside he could probably go on the right hand side there. Also, can be a good backup striker.

He's pretty much the perfect backup player. If It's less than 8 figures I'd say go for it.

Really good player, hope we can get him in...another season at Fulham will see his value rise considerably. I think its extremely important that we have a back up for VDV, and Dembele is a quality back up for sure. Kranjcar has never been used there and it means when VDV comes off in future we don't necessarily have to switch to 4-4-2 with Defoe.

I don't expect Niko to be here next season anyway, and probably the same for Pienaar....so in terms of forward thinking midfielders, there are two places freed up (if they go)

Let Levy worry about trimming the squad.

I'm underwhelmed but then again I was with both Nelsen and Saha and both did OK. So I'd have to give Harry the benefit of the doubt.

I agree with everything you've posted. The bit I have highlighted though is my concern. I would want those 2 players to be the last to leave. There are so many more forgotten players that are taking a considerable chunk of the wage bill - Bentley, Jenas, Bassong, Corluka. That's a £130k p/w player right there!

Yes out of the potential departures those two are the best, and they'll be in the most demand - particularly Pienaar because of his form over the last 4 months.

Basically there will be plenty of interest in these two for decent fees. The Bentley, Jenas etc are going to be a lot harder to shift.

Of course I would love if we could shift them instead of Peanut and Krank.

Moussa Dembele is an exceptional player who is getting better all the time. If we dont sign him, another big club will and we will look on with envy

I like him a lot but I don't see the logic in him being a potential Luka replacement.
