I think Sandro, Parker and Modric would work in the 4-3-3 (or 4-2-3-1...whatever we call it) given a bit of time to get used to it. They hardly played it this season and with a bit of work they could play it alot better, particularly with Sandro getting forward a bit more as the season went on.

I just envision us playing a 4-2-3-1 with the midfielders being 'split' as below (just as an example) with lots of the players being very versatile and bening able to play in a couple of positions and also being able to transition into a 4-4-1-1 or other formations:

DM (i.e. the '2') - Sandro, Parker and Livermore
AM (i.e. the '3') - Modric, VdV, Dembele, Lennon, Bale, Pienaar, Remy

Move Modric back into the 2, and swap Pienaar for Krancjar, and I'd agree.

I would still have Dembele beneath 2 forwards, Verts and Remy in terms of priorities though.

Same place as Gio (the player he is closest too positionally) nicely slotted in I'd guess.

Snuzzy, why do you say that? It's not beyond the realms of possibility, and I know more than I can say!

Would love to see Dembele at Spurs, a very classy, technically sound player, only question is where we would play him.

Most here see him as playing in a 3 behind a striker perhaps, where he would slot in nicely, however Jol has transformed him into a deep lying central midfielder this season. He and Murphy have been the sitting two in his midfield with 3 ahead of them, possible replacement for Modric perhaps?

He is a wonderful player though, don't see many better at standing a player up and then going past them. He and Alex Frei are Fulham's best players IMO.

Dembele always looks very skilfull when I've seen him (admittedly not a huge amount of times) but I'm not 100% sure where his best position is or where he's been deployed for Fulham. I got the impression he's a kind of an attacking midfielder/ in the hole/ forward

Could easily say that the chances Dembele would have to score goals have all been falling to Dempsey who is really playing in Dembele's ideal position.

Dembele has never been a goal scorer, he is reasonably quick with great technique and ball retention skills and is gradually becomming a very good passer and tackler since Jol pushed him back into CM. Maybe this is why Jol is doing it he recognises his strengths and weaknesses and seeing as he is a bit of a unit playing him in mid suits him more.

right now we have a problem, we have a very good first team but we are missing something

As a result of this its easy to name good players who we think are worth signing but a lot harder to find good players who would actually complement what we already have and be the missing piece/s to our puzzle

Its not just about signing a good or even a great player, in my opinion its about buying the right player for you (even if that means buying a player who is not as good as another option but more suited to addressing the need you have)

Our system is the key next year, Harry needs to decide how we are going to play and all signings need to be with that in mind. One that suits our best players and a squad that can slot in and out when needed without having to change formation or style.

If Dembele is a player who suits our system great, if not sign someone who is
