Excellent news. Like his style of play. Think he will be a major player for us. Very happy with this acquisition.

Repeating what I mentioned in one of the daily ITK threads but with some more detail and as many have said. And before I write this I just want to say that I’m a big fan of Dembele and am absolutely in agreement with signing him. But….Modric he is not. And we must not judge him on that.

He has some of Modric’s attributes – dribbling ability in tight situations and sudden (and in fact hyper) acceleration away from the opponent. He can also spot a decent pass now and again. Add to that he has more pace and strength and tackling ability. But what he lacks (compared to Modric) is the ability to play with his head up and spread the ball around quickly and see all of the options. He plays with his head down sometimes and goes down the odd blind alley by pure exuberance. Modric is so adept at spinning around and moving it quickly to a team-mate, not panicking and basically dominating midfield as a result. On the plus side again, Demb has time to improve his decision making and will only get more comfortable in possession with a good team around him.

We need to recognise that he’s not the pivot Modric is and is not a direct replacement for him in a 442. But in a 433/4251 with a more creative player such as VDV (Moutinho hopefully) then he’ll be great

(apologies for font - pasted in)

This is the formation that will win us the league!

It's just got a lot easier, for Spurs fans in particular. for those people
who couldn't name five famous Belgians.
Apart from Hercules Poirot we now have two at Spurs.

Well happy with this transfer

To say that we got him even though united, real Madrid and other top teams wanted shows Levy is the man. I'm looking forward to seeing his silky play at the lane

I think it's a bit fortuitous that some of our targets in this area have fallen through, as I really think Dembele will turn out to be fantastic. Of last years top midfielders, statistically, we just sent one to another league and picked up two of the top 10 in Siggurdsson and Dembele.

Sounds a bit moneyball to me... :cautious:

In all seriousness though, Gylfi and Mousa have got to be better than Downing and Henderson, right? RIGHT?! :D

Edit: Damn you TSH!! *shakes fist*

That's Comolli moneyball, using stats. Levy is about the value side of moneyball. It's just a coincidence.
