Lately on here, the place seems so unnecessarily negative at times. The Joe Cole scenario seems to have brought people down, obviously with City strengthening and Liverpool doing the same it's natural to want more players, but we've just finished fourth and things are really looking up for us. If we're going to sign top class players it'll take time, because Levy is obviously going to negotiate, unlike City who are going to buy at any cost.

We need to just relax and enjoy where we are, it will be so difficult to capitalise on fourth place this season, and therefore to qualify for the CL, but we might as well enjoy it whilst it lasts, whether it's one season or ten, we've made it into the Champion's League, our ambition from the moment Levy took over.

We've also got a very capable, and still young, squad, which will only improve with age. I'm sure the club are working very hard behind the scenes, I have faith that Levy will do anything he can to bring a marquee signing to the club, but it has to be the right one.

People seem to be so worried about not doing well this coming season rather than just enjoying and appreciating how far we've come, if we're like this we'll never be happy. If we win our qualifier, we're in the big time, we've got at least six Champion's League games, probably a couple against one of the biggest teams in world football. These are the best times we've had that I can ever remember.

Personally, the Joe Cole situation has had no bearing on how I feel. I was 50/50 on his signing throughout, so when he went to the Bindippers for the cash I wasn't bothered.

I remain positive and still can't wait for the Playoff draw to see who we get!

I'd like us to sign the top class striker we desperately need to step up to the next level, and maybe a centre back as cover (wouldn't mind Micah Richards if that were to happen, would have liked Kjaar, but never mind...)

Overall though I'm happy with the squad we've got (they got us to 4th don't forget! there's more progress and development to come from them yet too!)

So, yeah, bring on the next season! I haven't been to the Lane for a game in many years, but I've just got tickets for the Wigan game 28th, can't wait!

I would have been excited if we had signed Joe Cole, that we havnt hasnt changed the way i view this transfer window in the slightest.
Ill be dissapointed if we dont make any signings as i think we do need them especially upfront, but then are we not all just looking for that new Modric type signing that makes us all go OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FOOK ME!!
If that comes great, if it doesnt then im sure Harry and Daniel will buy what is needed from what is available.
Im not negative, ffs im wetting myself at getting to the lane again as soon as possible, if there is a big name signing to drool over then great if not then im still at White Hart Lane seeing the lads and in Harry i trust.

Job done

I am a little surprised that the window is progressing so slowly. I thought we would have sold a couple of players by now and be talking to a big name signing (well we were with Joe).

Still have 40 days of the transfer window to go. When is the deadline for the squads to be submitted for the CL? Hopefully we can have all our transfers sorted by then.

I really dont see Liverpool as strengthening, they sold Yossi and bought Cole, is that a great improvement?

Give it until the end of the window, its been like this for the last few seasons, things have been slow. I am not worried in the slightest, some people just need to man up and stop being such chufties (Norn Irish for pussies) and support and have faith in the team.

Chufties? Must be a Ballymena thing

Whether we signed JCole or not I wasn't to bothered, as I think we have similar players already. However what does make me worry is that by the sounds of things Harry and Daniel went all out to try and get him to whl but didn't succeed. So we still even with the chance of CL can't compete with the top clubs for players.:bang:

One big signing would help. We are now in the CL and should be able to lure in some class. If not then i will be pissed right off too to be honest.

When you consider our terrible injury list we had last season, it is almost a miracle we finished fourth, but we did and we can also look forward to a motivated Croation trio, and england players after their various world cup dissapointments.

Defensive cover and a striking option and we should be well set.

It can also be abbreviated to CHUFF , think its more of a country thing.

I dont think I agree with you that they went all out, we put our proposition on the table and he went for something better. At the end of the day JCOle was looking for his payday, nothing footballing about it. He held off on signing a contract with Chealsa nd he went on a free. I would guess that he was holding out for a City offer over £100k and he didnt get it. Nobody is going to convince me JCole is woth £90K a week, especially considering the options we already have.

I'm not so much negative as just bored.

I mean imagine if there was no competitive club football. Just for a second think about it. Its depressing isn't it. We have to fill the week with soap operas and talking to people. I KNOW - talking to other people, most of whom you don't like and the ones you do like you suddenly realise bore the hell out of you after 10 minutes with them and listening to them talk about their kids or their car or their job. You just never noticed before because when they were talking you were watching the football and not actually listening. Seriously I'd rather watch MK Dons v Oldham than listen to 90% of my mates, and the only reason I can stand the other 10% is because they wanna talk about football!! Its nearly 4 weeks until the season starts and I might not make it without killing someone!

Oh ffs somebody just knock me out until August 14th will ya!!!

I think the fact that we have managed to keep our squad pretty much in tact for the coming season is better than a new signing! It wasn't long ago Man U were poaching our best players.

We should all look to the new season with positivity and being a Spurs fan since the mid 80's I can't say that I have not always been able to do that. As has already been mentioned, we have a young squad who are now going to be stronger than they were last season with a stronger team spirit.

I am taking my 7 yr old boy to his first game at the Lane, pre-season friendly against Fiorentia, with the belief that his first 25 years of supporting our great club is going to be a lot better than mine ;) - COYS.

This is where the mental toughness is needed, we say the players need it but so do the fans.
There is one simple but indisbutable fact and that is that "we are where we are because we are good enough" and if we believe that then we can look forward to the new season and the glory it is going to bring us, those that are nervous about next season are having trouble believing this which is understandable after so many false dawns but this time it's ok to believe really it is!

Brave up and keep the faith Bro's our time is at hand.

I think boredom has set in more than anything. Everyone is so eager for the champions league qualifier, or a big signing, that the boredome creates the negativity.

This. Everyone wants a big signing to create a bit of a buzz, I don't think 'Arry's comment about a special signing has helped cos everyone's been eagerly anticipating said signing, which may not happen

I'm not sure that I buy the: 'let's be grateful for our modest blessings, sustained success isn't for the likes of us' mentality implied by the poster and I'm not sure Levy does either. I don't for a minute think that his ambition for the club is a one off CL campaign. I think that the 'negativity' that you refer to reflects the fact that most fans are anxious for us to ensure that we capitalise on this momentum and prove that at last, we are here to stay and that we are ready to finally fullfill our potential.

Yeah, one 4th place finish is going to erase the 90's and most of the Aughts when most of us have been supporting. What's surprising is the number of people that are so blissfully positive. I envy them

The sensible approach that DL takes towards the financial running of the club means that we have a salary limit that precludes the signing of a "stellar" player but this never seems to stop both the media and many fans suggesting names that would never be viable options. I'm actually quite happy with our squad. Sandro will, hopefully, be a huge addition to the squad and I'm sure that a further goalie will arrive before the new season commences. I would quite like to see Keane go and a decent replacement brought in but, other than that I think that we have an excellent squad with a depth of quality that is probably the envy of most other teams in the EPL.
