yea that's because they are 500ml in debt spending 40ml in one transfer window won't hurt, especially as they haven't spent money in a transfer window in ages, and 2 years ago they made 80ml on 1 player

So, what's the problem ? Nothing has changed, they still win leagues and cups, they still buy the best players in the world. Only difference is they have to pay the accountants more.

BTW,

They earnt 80 for Ronaldo and 6 /7 for a few payers ( Rossi, Smith etc ) but since 2006 they've spent 18 on Carrick, 17 on Hargreaves, 14 on some bloke called Luis Carlos Almeida da Cunha ( who the fuck is he?? ), 5 on several ( Da Silva twins etc ), 30 on Berbatov, 16 odd on Valencia and far too much on Chris Smalling.

So in 5 years they've signed Carrick, Hargreaves, Berbatov, Valencia, Smalling and this Da Cunha bloke .. that averages at one big old signing every year, not to mention the Bebes of this world.

Sure they made 80 on Ronaldo but then they also spent plenty both on fees and wages.

Point is they're fine, the balance sheet means pretty much fuck all to them unless they somehow go tits up.

There's a wicked whisper on the wind that £500 million is the asking price being thrown at interested parties i'm amusing that's with a stadium in place on paper.

If you believe a word Karen Brady says anyway.

Losing Levy would be very bad and I'd rather we didn't turn into some big money circus act. We need a new stadium and Levy is trying to make it happen so all we can do is be patient.

I still think the billionaire owner route is too risky. The right one can get us into the CL regularly but too many sack managers too quickly, take the soul out of a club and don't plan for the future.

I'm concerned that Levy hasn't implemented an effective youth system and most of the young players we have coming through (maybe all of them) are bought from other clubs then we just use the odd one or two and disregard the rest.

For the good of the club we need to live within our means and take a forward thinking approach like Levy has.

You can't really blame Levy for that though. He's not really a knowledgable football man so he tried to get a DoF in to implement a good youth set up but the first one got knicked by chelski and the second one just stirred up shit. The new training facilities being built will hopefully help with that too though.

I would rather have a well run club that is living on its means than a fake club that could go under if the owner gave up one day

Absolutely, don't blame Levy as I know he tried to implement it with Arnesen. He's certainly trying. Just disappointed with the situation as I hoped by now we'd be putting our youngsters into the first team squad more regularly.

We've brought a good few youngsters through recently like Hudd, Lennon, Bale and Walker but it would be nice if they were actually from our academy though but aint there all kinds of rules regarding were you can get players from for your academy? plus being a London team and not the most popular with the youngsters we'd also have a hard time recruiting the cream of the crop

If we sell Luka to Chelsea, I'd be more inclined to agree that we need new owners.

And on the whole I am really appreciative of what Levy has brought to the club since he's been here, but there seems to be very little point in football if we end up selling our better players to our direct rivals.

And I re-iterate, I have traditionally been a Levy fan. Over to you Dan, where are you wanting this club to go.

Everyone should have known we were screwed when we didn't sign a striker last season.

There was no way we were going to finish above City

To the original OP:

We nearly won the league last year (if you go on points)

The gap isn't as big as some make out

Take a chill-pill and enjoy the ride. You may be surprised :)

Would be delighted with NPD, I can see the pros and cons for the Olympic Stadium but I didn't want to move there.

I think Levy has done very well in his tenure. We always have money to spend when we need to, we have a new training ground nearly ready, and although we arent close we are nearer to a new stadium than at any time over the last twenty years.

A billionaire splashing the cash might bring us short term glory, but we would lose all the neutral admiration we have garnered over the last few seasons. Plenty of people laugh at Chelsea and their disorganisation, plenty of people detest City and their cash, then look at how the Glazers have piled on the debt, how Venkys have buggered it up, even lerner, who is thought as a generally good chairman, has made some dubious decisions, and we could always end up with a Kroenke who I think isnt interested in putting in his own money and will ultimately just take dividends and find extra revenue streams through Woolwich for his other businesses.

I couldn't care less what other fans thought of my team.

I like how people want new owners. Who the fuck is going to buy us? Nobody bought Newcastle, which has a bigger stadium, is a one club town and has a good fan base. And they are cheaper than we are. The oil barons don't want us. We're too expensive. So until you can find some oil baron willing to buy us, then stop the bullshit.

Our one and only chance at this was RA, who Levy said no to. Don't know if that is a good or bad thing.
