Thought this wasn't opening til nov/dec?

I'm certain that (a fair) few pages back, somebody said that the Sainsburys development was a couple of months ahead of schedule. I think there may even have been a bit of a heated debate, due to the fact that the person who said it was that far ahead of schedule said it may be open towards the end of summer, and somebody else said there was no chance they were 'that far' ahead of schedule. Either that or i had one heck of a vivid dream

Just thinking how many Nectar points RM might get if there's a tie in.

My dad works for Sainsburys and says that store has always been scheduled for end of Nov, I'll see if he knows anything about it

That was me. However, it was Camaj who posted the wildly over-optimistic claim that it might open this summer. Camaj has since posted that the opening date is 6th November, which is what I've heard from one of the assistant managers at the existing store. Recruitment is under way.

Not Waitrose though, is it? ;)

To be fair, I don't think a month or two is wildly-optimistic. I was a bit off though

Post from Bedfordspurs on glory-glory:

My chairman was on site today taking some stuff to our box and had a good chat with Mike Rollo. He asked about the new stadium as we have had ties with Tottenham for years and Mike said that nothing is happening yet due to the funding issues. He believes that the money being spent is to help elevate the profile further so that we can achieve more money in naming rights

I wouldn't have thought anything will happen till Sainsbury's is done and dusted anyway. It looks as if the site's been completely cleared now.

Including Archway?

Sorry, I meant to put 'of rubble' but didn't, for some reason. No, Archway's still there, but I can't see it lasting much longer, although Phase 1 could start with it still there.

The info jambreck swiped from GG is further confirmation of what Mills said the other week, and it wouldn't surprise me too much if naming rights negotiations have been put on the back burner while we chase players.

Does anyone know about the new sponsorship from AIA? Possible stadium sponsors or too small?

Link to their main site which has a nice article on Spurs. Probably worth a visit as increased traffic will encourage them to sponsor us again.

From the AIA site :

AIA is proud to be Spurs’ Cup Shirt sponsor this season

IMO they have just replaced Investec. Maybe another tie up will be announced later related to the stadium, but nothing at present.

Slightly off topic the AIA announcement made a big thing about expansion in asia - makes sense for Spurs commercially as I suspect we are way behind ManU, Arsenal, Liverpool and probably Chelsea. But my real surprise was that AIA seemed to think we could help them in that region of the world.

As it's only sponsorship for cup games I agree. If it was for the normal kit they would get massive coverage, premiership games are shown everywhere.

a little update from edmonton, they are discussing if getting 200m for the naming rights is realistic and edmonton replies:
I think it's just achievable with the right sponsor, Danny is throwing in naming of the training ground and some other stuff.
As you say, the game has grown but counterbalanced by recession since the deathstar was built and the surrounding area to our new stadium that the Council can't see the problem with but Danny is willing to change for them.
I've overheard naming interest from 3 parties over recent years, one serious but I don't think anything is close.
