There are a lot of bus stops that incorporate commercial names, especially supermarkets and tourist attractions, don't know whether these are paid for by the companies or TfL just names them as that's the most sensible name given the location.

On the DLR there is Custom House for ExCel, but I don't know whether ExCel paid for the name or whether TfL just gave it that name as it was the most appropriate option. There are also the Heathrow stations and London City Airport which are commercial names, but I presume they were just named as they are transport hubs.

2 points I can chuck in here:

1. Boris is currently in process of bringing all Network Rail stations within London under TFL control

2. The cost of changing all of the maps, leaflets etc. is not an issue at all. They have an annual process called 'Fares Revision', which aside from the obvious (cynical price rises to pay for bloated, ineffective management and to pay tube drivers 3x what they're worth) includes any necessary changes to the map and associated materials

Can't tell you whether TFL will allow the station name change though. It's on a case by vase basis and there is plenty of precedent.

Apologies if this has already been said but I friend of mine was saying that we were seriously looking into the idea of playing at wembley for 18 months so we can get the construction done quicker. Could be BS, sorry if it is. COYS.

Given that the construction will be taking place away from the current stadium moving away wouldn't have any benefit. It might mean that we'd play our first game in a finished stadium but I don't think it'd bring that date forward..

Can we stop talking about train stations for a moment and let me know when work is starting on the stadium proper?

You've asked the same one-line question several times. Do you not think that, if anyone knew an actual date, they would have answered it?

When they have the funding secured and the naming rights deal in the bag, then they can start. No one knows how long that will take. Read the thread.

Where, a couple of months ago there was a hole in the ground there is now a three story framework of the supermarket, they're not hanging about on that so with everything and everyone on sight I can't see us letting them all leave only to call them back again. Surely it would make sense to move straight onto the stadium.

Has the tender for the stadium gone out yet? I know it will most probably be the same company, but I'm guessing they will still put it out for tender anyway?

I really don't know Lilbaz I'd hope that we were well down that road though.

Yes, let's keep this on track and to a strict timetable.
Would not want to get de-railed would we, must not get accused of sleeping on the job.we must signal our clear intent, got to guard against that, must continue to drive this forward...........

Ok, I'll get my coat. :/

On Jan 23rd David Lammy tweeted "Chairman told me before xmas the earliest it [the stadium] could start will be December 2013 but he has lots of detail to sort before then."

Can see us move in before West Ham move into the OS. So glad now we're not involved in that shambles.

If I remember correctly, the supermarket is due for completion end of November, so that would fall into the timeline nicely...
