Backlit just means lit from behind right? So the lights could be coming from further back than the metal panels of the veil.

From all those Cowlin videos it looked like the veil panels were going in without any obvious electrics going in with them. I would have thought that maintenance would also be much easier if the lights were wired up from inside the windows rather than being attached to the veil. That's just a guess though.
I’m sure the veil is sitting proud of the windows with a fully sufficient ‘service’ space for cleaning and such things as the lights.

I was down there yesterday picking up some bits at the Spurs Store. It's very noticeable now how the building almost hides in plain sight along the high road. It must be one of the most unobtrusive large buildings I've ever seen. A building that comes alive when needed, but will slink back into its surroundings when not used. I think what we're dealing with here is genuinely less a multi-purpose stadium and more an outstanding piece of social architecture. It will change the place.

If you look at page 33 of 'The Lane', the club's coffee-table book about WHL, you'll find a few paragraphs about how the old stadium was almost hidden, even though it was on almost exactly the same spot as the new one, and needed people to search for it.

Living in Tottenham and heading out to work early in the morning around 4am, I notice that the outside is extremely light. I think what time is it? Sun shouldn't be up for another couple of hours. Then I notice the stadium, fuck me. Its like the mothership has descended and it lights up the entire area, I just stood there and stared at it for a couple of minutes. Then I remembered I have work...

So the lights are on the glass panels, the light panels behind the veil.(y)

No, The Sun just misreported/misunderstood. I saw a technical drawing for this a while back, the LEDs are literally being mounted to the back of the veil panels (I think actually on the frame to which each panel is attached, but that's not really important), not touching any glass. In many areas where there will be LED lighting there isn't any glass at all! The glazed area isn't actually all that big, as we'll remember from before the facade/veil went up. It's not a complex process and the gap between the veil and the actual stadium wall is big enough for a person to move around in there (necessary to provide access for window cleaning etc.) So yeah, it's not a technical challenge and is the kind of thing you put in after the veil is finished.

Interesting. Much of the glasswork in the stadium looks like it's floor-to-ceiling so I would have thought that they don't open for safety reasons. Does that mean that fitting the lighting will involve people going up in cherry pickers again, remove a panel, fit the lights, re-fit the panel do you think? Seems like a heck of a job to do after the veil goes up.

Having said that, it's just some lights so obviously has no impact on us being able to play there. Just an oddity of a huge build I suppose.

With regards to lighting the veil, I'm not sure its all being backlit, I read somewhere recently that there was lighting behind the cockerel but made no mention of anywhere else. Remember just because an architects render shows lighting behind it all, some of it may have been omitted for VE purposes.

Don’t think there is any need for removing panels or cherry picker, the technician will be like a climber/abseiler and be able to fix onto the inside of the veil structure, where glass panels are behind the veil in a few instances they will just access in the same way but approach from the top bottom or side.

I am sure there are plenty of maintenance access points designed in that may not be obvious/visible to us.

I think a few posts back someone shared how it was done for Bayern, I expect it to be done in a similar fashion ?

I think the access points are from within the structure itself - through windows/doors? Probably with walkways and ladders.

I am going to join the Slope bandwagon here, as before I thought it was a fuss about nothing. Having just looked at some videos (again), I can say that if the field markings remain as they are, there are going to be problems with that slope.

It's already been stated that the markings aren't to match specs.

He means "value engineering", i.e. cost savings.
