Bale as our main striker from now on, proved us wrong about being just a fb, proved us wrong about just being a winger, he has everything needed to be a top striker. Don't see the purpose of pissing about and wasting opportunities by giving respect to artificial labels. Him up front also allows us to get Sig, Holtby and Lennon all on the pitch at the same time and with Dempsey in the squad we have a versatile, easily rotated forward line. Defoe and Adebayor can be a threat from the bench.

Richie said something similar - remarkably so - in the TR section. I can see all that happening and would be very interested to see what would happen with those changes. It might work beautifully. Also a massive chance it all just doesn't work.
Gylfi and Holtby would need to pick things up ridicuously quickly, and AVB needs to be an uber-coach, to get them up to speed as wide forwards. Bale, he can be anything he wants to be quite frankly. A Thierry Henry or whatever. He's got pace, power, finishing and composure. He's also not Thierry Henry. He's already way ahead in that respect.
Would there be enough goals though? Who knows. My feeling is that if we started the season with Bale as the false #9/striker and Gylfi and Holtby as wide forwards, it would not be by design but due to failures in the TW. That's not to say it couldn't work but eh. It would be very ballsy from AVB and the coaches to actively pursue that direction as the preferred option.
