I have absolutely no faith in Aurier. Such a weird player, just looks so raw, has good attributes, but they're all disjointed. You can just feel he's gonna do something dumb.

Son not a game changer ?

Not off the bench, No

He has been brilliant for us. As a starter.

Can’t remember him coming on and changing a game we have been behind in.

As I did say though, there are some exceptions, quality wise, in our 12 to 25 but as a generalisation, the drop of is clearly there.

Overall the three points counted the most today and so I’m delighted. But having Sissoko and Aurier on the right just makes us more vulnerable. I thought Sissoko was ok today and despite a heavy touch followed the game plan. But Aurier- fuck my ageing brain- is full of calamity. Better suited with three CBs behind him I think

Are most really wanting him gone? Not sure thats true. What is thought to be true is that he has serious fitness issues and is unlikely to be able to play regularly. In the context he is no longer the future of the team.

I've definitely seen a lot of "he's past it, he's too slow now, other than a few games he was poor last season, he's been getting progressively worse each season, thanks but it's time to sell him now" comments. You only have to go through the Dembele thread to find them.

I get the argument that he's getting older and even that he can definitely be replaced, but for me it's always been that the fact of the matter is, until we actually bring in a decent midfielder or two, he absolutely has to stay.

@Archibald&Crooks not sure what the Doh was for this one - I’m not suggesting “the media is against us” or anything like that - it’s simply pointing out the usual ridiculous Sky nonsense of trying to create drama when there is none - what did anyone expect Poch to do other than play his normal team?

Don’t see why pointing this out is wrong for some reason.
"Trying to create controversy".......Seriously? It's just a remark, it's hardly going to be talked about on the front page of every newspaper or website for weeks now is it? It's just more of the rampant paranoia some people on SC suffer from, say one thing you don't agree with and there's some sort of motive. They don't just talk bollocks sometimes, it has to be 'something'. If you seriously think he sat there and thought "oooh, I'll say something to stir up some real controversy" and then thought of THAT.......well, good luck to you in Narnia.

But I'm so sorry I gave you a doh. I prostrate myself at your feet. Give me 30 lashes and no, don't hold back. Go on, give me a 'doh' back. You know you want to...........

That’s a bogey team for us and we always struggle at St James. All considered 3 points is 3 points. Half of our side is still recovering from the WC. Rafa parks the bus and we look disjointed from the back.

Put in the work and push forward. These are the types of results I’m expecting until our November groove.

Great that we ground out the 3 points, but the performance was quite poor. I definitely don't want to see Sissoko and Dier in a midfield 2 again, against a better side we would have been punished. Aurier isn't looking good, can't wait till Trippier is back. Overall, the 3 points was all that mattered today but looking forward it doesn't look great in CM, mistakes all over the middle of the park waiting to be punished.

Man City are obviously on a different level but with KDB, Silva, B Silva, Mahrez, Sterling, Sane, Aguero, Jesus. Four or them will start and and other 4 will be on the bench. Injuries also well covered.

I understand we don’t roll that way and haven’t got the cash to drop £50m on any given player but that’s the difference.

If we want to make a title push, or at least finish top 3 again, Dembele is going to have to start most matches and play at a high level. It would have been madness to sell him. Lamela also has to get fit and get a big run of matches. He gives you that little bit of creativity that others lack up front and when Eriksen is off, he can fill the void a bit.

With the injuries the squad has, the fatigue that make carryover from the summer, and the depth issues, there may be issues coping with 4 competitions. Would not surprise me if Poch massively de-emphasized the domestic cup competitions again and focus on PL/CL exclusively.

Damn the transfer window has turned alot of you into miserable shits.
You'd think Newcastle thrashed us 5-1 again.

Man United, arsenal, Chelsea and the greatest team in mankind's history couldn't win at St james' last season and we just have again on the opening day when they're super up for it and we are very unfit in several cases.

Not a great spectacle at all, we had chances, so did they bit overall we were better than them as the stats confirm

Think we need to give Harry a couple week rest. I know it's not preferred, but put some sort of "muscle problem" title on it and let him relax and hopefully recover a bit. We've got United on the 27th, I'd rest him for Fulham and hopefully through some light training we can get his legs back under him.

Aurier seems to be awful defensively & offer very little going forward (despite the assist for Dele) making it hard to see why we bought him. Anyone who saw a lot of him at psg able to give some hope that there is some potential for Poch to work with & he can become the long term replacement for walker?

A huge plus which I keep forgetting is who we have out in Winks, Wanyama and Lamela as well. Still think we need a bit more ability which we unfortunately didn't get in the window, but when everyone's fit we've got good options still.

Really hope Rose can get back into the fold though, having Davies as our only left back is ludicrous.
