21:29 GOAL - Newcastle 0-4 Tottenham - Nacer Chadli (88 mins)
Wow! What a goal this is! Spurs turn on the style now as Belgian winger Nacer Chadli bags his first Premier League goal, swift counter-attack ending at Chadli's feet and he smashes in from 25 yards, the ball taking a second life halfway in mid air and flying in.
21:27 Substitution, Tottenham Hotspur. Roberto Soldado replaces Emmanuel Adebayor.
21: 25 GOAL - Newcastle 0-3 Tottenham - Emmanuel Adebayor (82 mins)21:25

Tim Krul, you've had one. A total stinker. This time he parries Andros Townsend's shot from the edge of the area up into the air, Emmanuel Adebayor slams the follow-up back into the turf and it bounces high over Krul's head before nestling into the bottom corner.
21:18 Substitution, Tottenham Hotspur. Nacer Chadli replaces Aaron Lennon.
21:15 Substitution, Newcastle United. Sylvain Marveaux replaces Sammy Ameobi.
21:06 Substitution, Tottenham Hotspur. Andros Townsend replaces Mousa Dembélé because of an injury.
21:05 Substitution, Newcastle United. Hatem Ben Arfa replaces Luuk de Jong.
20:54 GOAL - Newcastle 0-2 Tottenham - Paulinho (53 mins)
Not the best again from Tim Krul, but Spurs double their lead! Paulinho starts the move with a backheel into the path of Emmanuel Adebayor, the Togo striker's shot is spilled by Krul and Paulinho follows it up to tap in from close range.
HALF-TIME - Newcastle 0-1 Tottenham
20:03 GOAL - Newcastle 0-1 Tottenham - Emmanuel Adebayor (19 mins)
A soft, soft goal puts Spurs ahead. Tim Krul was excellent in the first meeting between these sides but he's dropped one here, pushing out Nabil Bentaleb's left-wing cross straight into the path of in-form Emmanuel Adebayor. He can't miss. And he doesn't.

Newcastle

Newcastle have injury concerns over seven players: Fabricio Coloccini, Mathieu Debuchy, Cheick Tiote, Gabriel Obertan, Gael Bigirimana, Yoan Gouffran and Papiss Cisse.

Leading goalscorer Loic Remy completes his three-match ban.

Tottenham's Andros Townsend could make his first start for eight weeks after returning from a hamstring injury as a substitute against Everton on Sunday.

Erik Lamela, Vlad Chiriches and Sandro remain sidelined because of injury.

preview.jpg

A season that looked for a long time like it might deliver so much is fizzling out for Newcastle.

The 3-0 defeat in the Tyne-Wear derby was bound to affect their confidence, and at Stamford Bridge on Saturday they encountered a Hazard they could not handle.

It resulted in another 3-0 defeat and Newcastle have now won just one of their last seven league matches.

There is no doubt the departure of the talismanic Yohan Cabaye, and the lack of a midfield replacement, has hit the club hard, as well as top scorer Loic Remy's recent suspension, but Alan Pardew must be looking around his talented squad wondering why no one has stepped up to fill the void.

But he will be buoyed by an unbeaten record at home against Tottenham that stretches back nearly a decade. However, Tottenham's away form has been sensational this season, having only lost at Arsenal and Manchester City.

But when Tottenham do lose, they lose badly, suffering heavy defeats against Manchester City (twice) and Liverpool, as well as derby defeats by West Ham and Arsenal in both league and cup.

Plus, there is the small matter of their astonishing defeat to Newcastle in November, who somehow came away from White Hart Lane with three points after Tim Krul proved to be a one-man barrier in the Geordies' goal. His incredible 14 saves in that match was the most by a goalkeeper in a single game since Opta began recording data in 2006.

facts.jpg

Head-to-head

  • Tottenham have not won a Premier League game at Newcastle in seven attempts since Thimothee Atouba gave them a 1-0 win in August 2004. Spurs were also victorious at St James' Park in a League Cup third-round tie in 2008.
  • Newcastle's 1-0 win at White Hart Lane this season was the first time in nine games that the away side had prevailed in matches between these sides.
Newcastle

  • Newcastle have lost their last three league matches at St James' Park. They have not lost four in a row at home since 1987.
  • They have gone seven league games without a clean sheet at home.
  • Alan Pardew's side have only won one of their last seven league matches, failing to score in the other six.
  • They have had just eight goalscorers in the Premier League this season, fewer than any other side.
Tottenham

  • Spurs have won six and lost just one of their nine league games under Tim Sherwood, taking 19 points out of 27. Only Chelsea have earned more points in the same period.
  • Tottenham are two points better off than at the same stage last season, when they went on to record the most points (72) by a team finishing fifth in a 38-game top-flight campaign.
  • They have lost just two of their 12 Premier League away games this season.
  • Emmanuel Adebayor has scored six goals in 10 Premier League appearances this season, one goal more than he managed in 25 matches in 2012-13.
  • Jermain Defoe has scored on his last two league appearances at St James' Park.

some team news for Newcastle

http://www.london24.com/sport/totte...s_remy_still_banned_for_spurs_clash_1_3315288

Newcastle striker Loic Remy will complete his three-match ban as Tottenham visit St James’ Park on Wednesday night.

Alan Pardew’s leading scorer has already missed the defeats by Sunderland and Chelsea and will be available once again for the home clash with Aston Villa on February 23.

Pardew also has injury problems, with central defender Fabricio Coloccini (knee), full-back Mathieu Debuchy (calf), midfielders Cheick Tiote (hamstring), Gabriel Obertan (knee) and Gael Bigirimana (ankle) and strikers Yoan Gouffran (muscle strain) and Papiss Cisse (back) all doubts, although Gouffran and Cisse are close to returns.

Provisional squad: Krul, Elliot, Santon, Williamson, Yanga-Mbiwa, S. Taylor, Dummett, Haidara, Anita, Marveaux, Sissoko, Ben Arfa, Sammy Ameobi, Gosling, De Jong, Shola Ameobi, Armstrong.

They're missing the whole spine of their team....and the amount of goals/assists from Remy and Cabaye is staggering in terms of how reliant they were on those two.

If we can't beat them tomorrow night it will be pretty gutting....but anything can happen in a football match and this is Spurs lol

We've got to take the game to them. Dominate, get their fans on their back early. They've got 4 of their best players missing. No excuses.

It looks like a Newcastle have no decent striker available and of course Cabaye has gone so it will be another scrappy game like Sunday IMO. A midfield battle low on quality interplay.

Hopefully the result is the same though.

Our last victory at Newcastle in the PL came in August 2004. Can you remember who scored the only goal?

Our scorer at our last PL victory at Newcastle was Thimothee Atouba. Congratulations if you got it right #SpursQuiz pic.twitter.com/5qkhCTYDs7

I think we'll win this one, Pardew never strikes me as a particularly shrewd operator and with a half fit team, I fancy us to go up there and bang a couple past them.

Personally, I just want to see some progression in our performance, I want to see that Sherwood is getting a message across to them.

I have a feeling with that half fit team we are going to go all out and use a 442 with soldado back in , either that or eriksen in behind Adebayor and townsend on the left.

They're riddled with injuries and have sold their most influential midfielder but they're at home and they have Ben Arfa, although not anywhere near his best so far this season, is a player that can change a game in an instant.

I remember that match and Robson was going on saying that Atouba was massively left footed. If i remember rightly the goal was an absolute screamer and scored with his right foot. I really liked Atouba at spurs.

I don't think we travel well to these places, Newcastle, Sunderland etc if memory is right we hardly win, time to change that, need to win and bin dippers to loose or draw
