Gylfi Sigurdsson remains a doubt as we prepare for Wednesday night's clash at Newcastle.

The midfielder picked up a thigh strain in training on Saturday, ruling him out of Sunday's win against Everton.

Vlad Chiriches, Erik Lamela and Sandro remain sidelined.

"Gylfi’s not too far away, he has a slight strain," reported Head Coach Tim Sherwood after training on Tuesday.

"Vlad still isn’t right. He has a back injury and it might be some time before he returns.

"Erik had a thigh strain, he’s over compensated with that and now it’s referred to his back.

"That’s not great news, but Younes is back in training, Jan has played a few games now and he looked stronger at the weekend, Paulinho is back, Andros as well, he just needs minutes and we all know what he can do once he’s firing again."

Timothee Atouba?! A player(!) who wouldn't have looked out of place with a giant green wig, red nose and oversized flappy shoes.

I don't think we travel well to these places, Newcastle, Sunderland etc if memory is right we hardly win, time to change that, need to win and bin dippers to loose or draw

We've won the last two up at Sunderland...Newcastle has always been shit though.

We won't have a better chance tomorrow night.

Would like to see Ade less isolated in this match compared to the Everton game. Be nice if the lads started at a fast tempo. I've not seen much of the barcodes this season, but historically they don;t park the bus like teams such as Hull do. If they do play an attacking lineup, I think we can give them serious problems on the counter. I fancy a win (shaded with a little caution).

A lot of talk of them going 4-4-2...hope they do, a nice open ding dong with their injury ravaged team should see plenty of goals - and in our favour!

A nice comfy win, isn't much to ask is it!!!! But being Spurs, they are bound to make it harder than it needs to be! Joking aside, I agree, if they go into a 4-4-2 to accommodate missing players and try to attack, I think they'll come unstuck. Might even be a game to give Soldado goal scoring redemption…. But i'll try not to get over excited and ahead of myself.

Spurs have won six and lost just one of their nine league games under Tim Sherwood, taking 19 points out of 27. Only Chelsea have earned more points in the same period.

I can see why so many people dislike the manager.

Was going to mention Soldado and scoring but wanted to swerve an avalanche of optimistic ratings lol

Think Tiote is out, his partnership with Cabeye was very good, and will be a big loss, so i assume Sissoko will play, maybe alongside Anita, where the hell is Spursking when you need him????

Hope that we start well and don't give them any encouragement. Think it's a game where the first goal is crucial, aren't they all really I suppose, if we get the first goal then I can see us winning but if they score first and their fans get behind the team it could be a very frustrating and uncomfortable night. From the start please lads.

Due to their injuries and with Cisse a possibility to feature...there is talk of paring him with the De Jong geezer lol
Well that would certainly be interesting!

To be honest, it always seems to me that Ameobi has a good game against us so I'm happy for those two to feature.

The crowd will quickly get edgy what with recent events on and off the field so it's imperative we don't start off lethargic and passively give Newcastle the added impetus.

It does seem to be a problem for us though, starting slowly. As you say with recent events and with them missing some players a good start from us is really important and could have a huge effect on the game and atmosphere.
