I believe @Tucker Posted something the other day from another forum about the feeling being between our current Head Scout, Munn and Ange that they had the role covered. I might be misremembering.

Conjecture at this stage between us that Gabannini is stepping up as the go-between but is highly thought of at the club.

Matt Law (if I recall correctly) on LWOS seemed to suggest appointing a new man in the position, be it DoF or Sporting/Technical Director is still on the cards and we would look to do so within the next 2 weeks.

Daniel has always been a fan of the director of football role or at least the thought of it through from the vision to of Arnesen to the scouting of Comoli to the intermediary skills of Baldini. I would be very surprised if he didn't want to appoint to this role in some guise.

but also, he really really wants to have a good long think about who it should be

Just my opinion, no need to get all woke and defensive.

Interesting appointment for West Ham this but does make you wonder if we will be shortly making an announcement.

Also note, Technical Director as opposed to DoF.

Good move for West Ham. Wouldn’t expect Moyes to last too long there. There’s no point bringing in a talent spotter when the talent you bring in will hardly have the ball because of his dour tactics.

There was plenty of rumors about us appointing someone from Germany, but it all went quiet after we've pulled the plug on Nagelsmann deal. With Gabbiani being so highly respected in the club right now and Paratici seemingly advising Levy, I wouldn't be surprised if we appoint someone from Italy. With the investigations going on, there are plenty of directors parting ways with clubs. Maldini left Milan, Igli Tare left Lazio and I still think Pinto will leave Roma.

That's a very shrewd appointment from West Ham. Very good talent spotter, especially South America.

I just feel we are fucked again. The rumours about an overhaul seems to me as a lip service. We've been without a DoF for two months so far. People tends to think that Munn is a genius and is able to do a job without a DoF. We didn't know that he existed 3 months ago. We've had more than enough time to do a "due diligence". The most rational conclusion that we are not willing to offer a decent role for our targets. They don't want to go here. Or the Board/Levy decided they didn't need it. I cannot believe we are miles away in terms of management from Brentford and Brighton. I must admit, to my understanding, we are.

Technical Director isn’t a talent spotter, typically, is it? I thought it was more coaching/staff related and not a recruitment/talent scouting role.

I dont know why but I think they'll go for Potter soon even though Moyes has been told he will get next season. Their owners arent exactly known for being caring and trustworthy.

I dont agree we are fucked but I suspect you're mostly right there. The job that needs doing at the club is huge and that could well be scaring off a lot of candidates too. You can bet indecision is playing it's part though. Maybe Paratici is doing the job still all but in name until we get someone in?

Hmm. The most important thing we need a DOF for right now is negotiating for buying and selling players. That group may be able to cover talent ID and academy operations but I doubt they have the contact books, negotiating nous and time to shift our big big squad well.

Maybe if we can beef up a negotiating team and / or rely on agents (Base) in the short term?

Definitely fills me with concern
