Whilst I can agree with this in some way, we just sat back against 10 men, that's not years of loosing our DNA, that's utterly shit coaching.

I know, but gradually we have lost some soul mate...

Not a chance. Mount and RLC only have 1 year left on their contract and Gallagher only has 2 years. Mount will have his suitors but RLC they will be lucky to get 20m for. The teams in for Gallagher wont be spending more than 30m for him either IMO.

It seemed to me that quite a few players were busting a gut. But as the game went on, they were doing it at the wrong time and in the wrong spot. A big part of that was down to tactics as we don't have any good ball carriers that can retain posession under pressure in the middle of the pitch. We don't have the right players in the back or the midfield to play counterattacking football. The players know that and their mindset is to not make a mistake which becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

While many want to blow it up, we are 3-4 players away (Ok maybe 5) from being competitive once we are at full strength and we have a coach that implements a system that plays to our strengths rather than fit square pegs in round holes and is a good man manager. The team needs surgery. (CB, Midfield and GK).

Our biggest need is a coach that can put in a system that plays to the strengths of our players. (How the hell could someone not figure to have more game time to Bissouma's or Richarlson injuries not withstanding?)

There is a second need almost as great as that. It is a midfield and/or CB general. At the risk of repeating myself and others, can you imagine what would have happened tonight if Roy Keane were on the pitch? So while I'm hoping that one of the tactically flexible coaches comes in, i'll keep my expectations modest until we get some real leadership on the pitch which requires leadership from the board.

Best training ground in the world, best stadium in the world, best league in the world, top five pay for managers, squad full on internationals..

Yep who would want it!?!
Correct about the Stadium and League. Bit of a stretch on the squad full of internationals though. Most clubs in the top leagues have internationals, even Dier and Sanchez are internationals lol.
The main thing is Levy and the board going from one crisis to another should be enough to put anyone off

Why oh why won’t Levy just bail on this “resurrect the corpse” strategy with shite like £60m on Richarlison and weird disjointed buys to fit both the manager and the future?

why can’t he just do Brighton on steroids?
I'm not sure you can blame richarlison on levy.

yes it is but its also the mentality.

Players who have a brave mindset instilled and have been coached to play would see it through.

It's a combination.

The coaching has manifested a cowardly attitude.

I agree, hence the shit coaching, but we were sitting back against 10 men.
I'm just angry mate, had a ton of beer and pissed off watching this cowardly approach, we have the players to see out a 11 v 10 game, we played like we had 10.

I feel you, mate.

It's infuriating.

I blame the system today because we should have gone 4-3-3 and focused on squeezing Everton into their own half and you do that by short passing and staying compact.

We expected our defensive players to draw in the opposition and play through.

Which is why i believe we have a cowardly mentality.

Because we have been coached to play without bravery and take risks. Instead we wait for a sucker punch.

You never know really who will be the right fit mentally. When I see Arteta I see a Spanish David Brent but his players will run through brick walls for him.

I dont know about Slot the man but I wouldn't rule out most candidates on the basis of the mental aspect because it feels like a huge chunk of luck can be needed sometimes.

He got rid of the old guard like Ozil, Aubameyang, Lacazette and Koscielny first and replaced them with younger players who were more likely to respond to him.

good point. We need not just a new manager but a clear out of the old guard, they are wet wipes right now Kane aside.

Indeed, I thought this was the year we get a bit of bite back, I thought it was our year, my dad died last June and he saw us win the double, he watched Mackay, Blanchflower, Jones etc and I've probably not quite got to grips with it all and the beer has got to me, fuck it, we go again but show some bollocks in the way we set up.
It's beer and emotion.

Yep, all the more frustrating that our passing was better today at times, just missing that 3rd man, we don't work for each other, that's the sad part, no teamwork and no bravery.
