He's only 5ft 7 lol

N Go Low C*nt... think I'll pass.

Don't know anything about this guy but Makelele was 5ft 6, David Silva is 5ft 8 (although not technically a centre midfielder) but i guess the crooks of it is in a butt load of positions it doesn't really seem to matter.

In midfield, the only position I'm concerned with lack of height is pertaining to a genuine holding mid in a traditional setup, where air superiority is essential. Other than that it doesn't bother me. In fact, if anything, we could do with more agility and playmaking ability in our midfield IMO.

I know nothing about this player though, but not sure if he seems a double pivot type :meh:

Remember how shit those midgets Modric and Parker were on our midfield? Thankfully that's not our midfield partnership now

Doesn't sound a very strong link and someone I've never heard of before, but I assume these players are now being linked since Schneiderlin's Champions' League team comments.

Not sure why his height is a problem for us.

A 3 man central midfield of Eriksen (light weight), Bentaleb and Kante (midget) is extremely lightweight. We need someone who'll add presence to our midfield... someone like Dembele (less the injuries and hit and miss form).

Hardly, the better CDM's down the years have mostly been shorter guys.

True, there have been plenty of excellent shorter DMs. However, I wouldn't feel comfortable with one being 5'7" in the modern Prem. Other than that, I couldn't care less if the No 8 or No 10 were 5'5".

They've often been surrounded by quality players who also shared a team work ethic. Judging by a lot of our performances last season, we're quite some distance away from this at the moment.

I think the most important attribute of
a DM is reading the game.
Look at little Luka Modric, not a DM but when we put him in the middle some thought he was too light weight and wouldn't put his foot in, but what he lacked in physicality he made up for with his brain by reading the game and making important interceptions.

Our system suits the rangier types, I wouldnt totally rule out a shorter guy but he would have to be one hell of an athlete to cover the ground required in a double pivot. Needless to say when you consider our current 2 are a bit lightweight he needs to be strong too. Nianggolan for example is not a giant but he covers the ground well, has great stamina and is a tuff little bugger.

Yeah for sure, a shorter guy would have to be quite speedy to compensate for the loss in stride if playing in a double pivot. My ideal No 8 is a pacier, lowish center of gravity'd (5'8"-5'10"), good upper body strength'd playmaking type. Quick enough to run down an opposition move, win the ball, and then quickly transition the ball forward either with a peach of a pass or quickly moving the ball forward at his own feet.

If we're serious about this guy for instance, as long as he's decently quick and possesses good upper body strength then I'd be all for it as long as he's partnered with someone like Bentaleb or Stambouli who can at least pressurize the aerial balls.

Just found this actually:

Very impressive. Few clips of him seem to suggest he's a solid playmaker as well.

Oh, that's an interesting link, have really liked what i've seen of him. Seems a very 'complete' player.

He's another one who's been linked with...guess who...Marseille.
