Nothing at all to do with Jose, it's regarding the structure of the deal.
Sounds like it. I remember Herc using the word impasse during the Spence-talks as well ? ? ... think it was Herc. Doesn't mean it's off the table.

Isn't there a limit of 2 loan players in the PL? If we have Deki and Lenglet on loan (assuming Romero gets finalised before the weekend) that would put us at the limit and not allow any more incoming loans.

Happy to learn I'm wrong!
No, 2 from other Premier league clubs. Unlimited from outside the prem unless the limit of 8 they were discussing has actually come in already. But we are all good either way

I think in the next 24 hours we will see a shift to Paqueta. Also given the injury concerns to Skipp (as Paqueta can cover centrallly too)

*Looks at your avatar, can't take you seriously.

Haha. To be fair I’ve completely forgotten that’s my avatar. It was from the mess last summer and Levy has turned it around since, I’ll change it soon.

I’ve noticed most of the transfer related threads on SC getting very passive aggressive over the last week. Can’t wait for the football to start Saturday and the window to close in a few weeks.

Wasn’t quite sure which thread to post this in, but here goes..

I’m not sure whether this has been said before, but I’m certain that we’ve been linked to Zaniolo before in the past under previous regimes. I’m not doubting the ITK that he’s Conte’s number 1 target at all, just that he could well be a bit more of a club signing than it first appears. Perhaps before it was idol press speculation - I’m not sure.

@Trix ’s info yesterday was very interesting regarding the slim (currently) opportunity that Bastoni may become available later on in the window (as an incidental side note, I said this a while ago and got bashed for using logic), and that we are not working with a FM type budget. I’m a big fan of Maddison too, who ticks a lot of boxes, but would command a sizeable fee. If we paid £50m for Maddison, which in turn took a now available Bastoni - a player who’d go straight into the first 11 - off the table, I’d be very disappointed with our decision. This also ties in with the ITK that we’d make an offer for Maddison later on in the window if we did at all. In other words, Zaniolo (loan plus option/reasonable obligation) plus Bastoni is probably the perfect scenario if at all possible.

We’ve heard a lot about Conte drilling players to play exactly how he wants too. I’d imagine he feels he can do that more with a disciplined Zaniolo than a creative playmaker in Maddison, perhaps. However at the same time, I don’t think he’d be too disappointed working with a player who has such impressive statistics in the league as Maddison’s. Managers like Conte understand the significance of these numbers.

I trust Conte, if he likes Zaniolo more than Maddison then I hope we get Zaniolo over Maddison for him to be happy and work his magic.

I for one like Zaniolo's height. And I think Conte likes this attribute too to make us a towering force.
I think you're spot on.

if we're directly comparing Zaniolo to Maddison and Paqueta, Zaniolo is physically the most dominant in his approach. His running style and power mean that he's able to bulldoze his opponents (a bit like dare I say it...Sissoko). From a technical perspective Paqueta is a far better dribbler and has better close control and both he and Maddison have better creative passing.

This is not someone who is going to play CM in our set-up. This is clearly competition to Kulusevski as a RWF

Conte worked with Hazard so he can work with creative players. Not sure if Hazard enjoyed it but he did do the work required by Conte.

Then we can all enjoy the positivity of the match threads….gulp!

I'd rather we get the player that Conte really wants than get somebody else because you don't really fancy him personally.
I'm not sure it's as cut and dried as that. I think there were players Conte really wanted, Perisic, Bisouma and possibly Richarlison and so we got them in early but I think Zaniolo is his No 1 option perhaps strongly his No1 option but that's all. In my humble opinion I think he will still be happy with Paqueta or Maddison.

Really? Looks like Hervé Villechaize to me, but it's your avatar so you would know.
It is but it's the character Tattoo from Fantasy Island.

Was just being unnecessarily pedantic:D

Fair enough, it's hard to restrain the pedantry sometimes!

Trying to get vaguely back on topic - bouncing opinions on Zaniolo vs Paqueta and Maddison - it's oddly refreshing having the majority of our transfer business already done. I think we're all a bit bored now waiting for more news at least until the season starts this weekend. Which can't come soon enough.

Seems to me that the preferred order is Zaniolo, Paqueta then maddison but what im struggling to fathom is surely as you move down the list the players are becoming more expensive and just as difficult to do. Paqueta will command a bigger fee than zaniolo for example

I just saw an article on Reddit saying that Conte would supposedly plan to use him as a RWB.

If so, that's surely some galaxy brain-level tactic-ing there, but I won't lie I kind of dig it...
