well we will never know what goes on at spurs but i heard that VdV was told he wouldn't be an automatic starter and thats why he left, he would walk into our side this year, January better see alot of fucking movement, our squad is piss poor, we have the makings of a decent first 11 but behind that we have nothing, don't rate Sig or Dempsey, if no creative signings are made can we really blame bale if he leaves in the summer.

Bit hard to build a team when you have about 6 probable first teamers out.
Avon - reassure me - where do you see our creativity coming from in our best X1?
And do you see AVB moving away from his ¨we're 1-0 up, we need the 3 points/win and will protect them at all costs¨ philosophy and more towards a ¨we're 1-0 up and dominating - lets kill this game off¨ philosophy?!

It's really been a terrible time for Spurs since we lost a 2 goal lead at Arsenal

Since then we've lost 3rd place having been 10 points clear, lost our CL status having qualified via our league finish

Lost three of our best players and only replaced one

Been linked to a host of exciting and talented players but managed to sign only a couple and none of the stature of those we were hoping for (and to rub salt in had to watch Chelsea....the team who robbed our CL status sign two of the top players we were linked to)

And this season we've seen our club playing far inferior football to that of recent seasons whilst still having most of the same old pitfalls and on top of that we're now playing like Sven's England used to and defending a single goal lead like our lives depending on it even against weaker teams we could and should be steamrollering

I REALLY REALLY hope Levy invests in the club in Jan and buys some of the players we so desperately need to take us forward again.

I know we are doing well in the league and things are not as bad as they seem, but our league position has greatly flattered us so far and we're lucky to be where we are. Yes we have some key players to return and things will improve when they do but there are some very worrying deficiencies in our team and even more so in our tactics in my eyes and the sooner we make moves to address them the better

It's hard watching a Spurs team with little to no creativity and even less goal threat......and even harder to watch fantastic players like Hazard turn it on for Chelsea (who in our club would have produced a bit of flair like that to set up the goal?)

Bit hard for the player in the hole when we don't have a striker..

True but clint was sposed to be striker but he was coming deep and getting more on the ball than the "playmaker". No threat in behind at all. Even defoe comes too deep to collect. No matter if its siggy or clint in the hole they go missing. Scrap 4231 and adopt a flat 433.

The people calling for AVB's head, Jesus, those knees of yours must be getting sore, doing all that jerking.

We dominated, conceded two unlucky goals, one with a huge deflection, the other was the ball fell to them after a good save from Loris, and I'm sure the free kick was even a debatable one.

We played well and created some good chances, just lacked the finish, again. We could have been 3/4 up, but unfortunately we weren't. Anyone who thinks its AVB's fault we lost is mad. He wasn't out on the pitch. He had to make changes. Carroll looked tired and we needed someone who could play in there. We didn't have anyone else so Vertonghen was the obvious choice. Someone even mooted it recently to play him as a CM.

We can take quite a few postives out of tonight;

- Loris had a good game when we had to do something, made seem good saves and was quick off his line at times.

- Carroll looks like he can make the step up, looked every accomplished.

- Falque played great, was very influential and looks like he could be adequate cover when needed.

- Bale looks like he's getting back to his best, great goal and was involved in a lot of our best play.

It's the league cup, out of the 4 it's bottom of the list for us. So scratch it off. We aren't going to Wembley in February. We'll just have to go in May.

We really shouldn't need to rely on Dembele to beat Norwich.

Bottom line is every week we have Sig or Dempsey starting and neither are anything that much above average.
Right now I'd settle for either looking average, they've not come close to looking as good as average yet

So what're the latest excuses from the naive apologist brigade on here?

Players out or not, we were playing fucking Norwich and we have enough quality on the pitch, unless you want to argue these players aren't even of Norwich's quality, to make it count.

People calling for AVB's head need to have a look at themselves.

We dominated the entire game and they scored 2 flukey goals, any other day we would have won it comfortably. We currently sit 4th in the league having beaten United at Old Trafford and bar a blip against Chelsea, have won numerous games on the bounce.

Yes we have been lucky at times but we have got numerous injuries and are rebuilding the squad after losing 2 top players.

An someone remind me why we sold Pav again??

The real question is 'why haven't we replaced him'?

We sold him and brought in Saha on a temp contract for a few months. We released him and didn't sign anyone else...presumably because we're going to wait until 2018 when a talented striker we're after actually agrees to join.

Dempsey replaced Pienaar as a versatile (but massively inferior IMO) midfielder.

Sig replaced Kranjcar as an inferior creative midfielder.

Pav (or rather - his place as a striker in our squad), and VDV were not replaced. Modric's vital role at the heart of our midfield has not been filled (Dembele is a very different type of midfielder). How people can think we're not weaker than last season is beyond me.

I hope Dempsey had a quick look at Gigg's penalty, that's how you do it. :D

I may have missed such a post......but I have not read a single one where a poster was calling for AVB's head?!

I've seen people questing his tactics and expressing frustration but no one saying he should be saked

5-4 at the Bridge.

Ok I don't care what anyone says, i'm more than gutted we're out. League cup is great when you think about it, the stakes are not so high but the games are competitive and you can give a few youngsters a run out.

We have Middlesboro, Leeds, Bradford ffs, and now norwich in the qfs. What this now means is that either Arsenal or Chelsea will more than likely make the final and pick up the trophy.

Marvelous
